LACR is closing

According to Dave Anderson of Pontiac Drag Days the end of July will be the last race.
PDD will have events June 9 and July 22.

Dave also stated that Bernie is moving to AL.

I guess its back to the streets since Funtucky doesnt want street legal racing either.

Fontana still has street events every month. next one is June 30th.. i also see that Fontana has stated $100 T&T events with limit car numbers, first one is July 1..

The word on the street is that they are investing lights there for night racing..

LACR was a waste of space, i'm sorry to say.. I would drive and i'm driving to Famoso before i ever race LACR..

How many street legal drag days does Funtucky have scheduled this year.?
Bet its less than one a month, and more like one every 2 months.

Carlsbad and LACR were open to street legals almost every weekend.
Big difference between 8 days a year and 50 days a year.

Just checked, 8 street legals days in 07. Wowee, whoop de do.

and how did your car run out on the sandy track.. with major cross wind and no VHT track bite.. i'll take the 7 events a year and race a safer track for me and my fellow racers.
Famoso was GREAT.. yes it's out there, but that track was protected by orange trees and nut trees.. if you can drive out to LACR, whats the differance of driving out to Famoso..

My last trip to LACR I had a PB, faster than Pomona or Funtucky and slightly faster than Carlsbad.
And it didn't take hours to get thru tech.

I don't know if anyone else knows but there's supposed to be another 1/4 mile track opening in Socal. Banning looks to be in a central location from LA and San Diego, maybe an hour or less. Check it out...

I was at Palmdale this past weekend and this info is true. The return road is already part of a sand pit and within 2 months it will all be one big hole. Bernie is indeed moving, rumored to have bought a turnkey dragstrip for 1.5 million.

I ran my fastest et's at LACR in my GP. Loved that track since the people that ran it where cool and always seem to car about the racers. Kinda like Barona. Dont car to much for Funtucy. Car runs slower there and the track prep really sucked. I never noticed any winds but maybe I wasnt going that fast to begin with...... but I sure liked pissing off the Vette guys when you'd see there 13.4X Dial in time compared to my 12.5X ..... loved that track cause everyone else ran slow except me! gotta love that nitrous!

and that was the reason why you ran your PB.. with nitro you really don't have to worry about the DL, all you do is just spray it more ..

LACR has been a crapper for at least 20 years. It hasn't gotten any better with time.

Interesting how different people have such different opinions about tracks.

They either love the track or hate it. Nothing in between.

I loved Brotherhood, Carlsbad and LACR, tracks were good and the people running them were there for the racers.
Pomona was like Funtucky the track was ok, the people running it have attitude. It's like they are doing racers a favor by letting them pay $20 to race.

And 1/8 mile, one time at Cal com, is like a wet dream. Falls short of the real thing.

I knew most of the guys at Carlsbad pretty well and I can't honestly say I don't agree with your opinion about them being there for the racers. Woody is the best guy ever, both Jack and Charlie could be pricks and Jeff who was the owners son and ran the place was pretty much an ass. The track was crappy also but there was no tech and you could get plenty of runs in if that is how you qualify a "good track". At least it was close to sea level not at 2700 feet. Racing at the stadium is for imports so I guess it's 1/8 th mile racing at either Barona or Irwindale if you want to run on a decent track and still be local.

I ran at plamdale a hunderd times and never had nothing but problems with the track and the weather. I can say they made tech easy by doing it with the car on the trailer. As for carlsbad I agree with Neal they were jerks and the track was a run down turd.
