My dads new ride "first test at the track"

I talked my die hard Ford owning dad into a stock 87 GN about 5 months ago and put a few extra parts and junk that I picked up on it. We took it out to Perris Raceway to get a base run for the first time. This track is not good or anything but it is fine to screw around on. The best we got out of it was a 8.46 et and best mph was 93 at 20 psi. This was on street tires with the best 60' of 2.06 and I think that track shows 3 mph high. We could not get a data log off his scan (PepBoys speical) tool, so the tune is way off and there is more in it once he gets his scanmaster next week. I think he likes the Buick, I told him we can make it go 11.50's and he can drive it to work, so now he see's the light. I forgot mention that the trunk was full of stuff that he forgot to take out that was probably a 100 lbs. so I figer it helped it hook better. I think it was not bad for his first 30 miles in it, driving there and back for him, what a way to get the feel for a new ride.

Yeah not the fastest runs in world, it still runs and nothing falling or running out the bottom. That is all good so far, now just need to figure out how to tune and tweak on it and some day maybe an 11 second pass will come. Until
then I will just keep tinkering around to see what happens as broken cars do me no good. Hopefuly dyno day will help me get going the right direction.

I know that these cars can go fast, but will it last when it goes fast?

My last old Ford set no records but it did run 10.50 and did not have the pan off for 15 years.
Oh yeah it was no light weight either, but it did have 8 cylinders and ran really good on 9 cylinders. ( NOS )

Welcome to the Darkside.

I wish I could convince my dad to get one. That would rock! I did get his attention when I showed him GNFLYBY's videos. He had no idea of what these cars could do...

Oh well, one of these days... (maybe mom [leadfoot] will be easier to convince)

His 01 Lightning goes 88 mph in the 1/8th
His 02 Mustang goes 83 mph
I think his 63 galaxie went 107-109 not sure it's been gone for a few years
All the rest of his vehicles are somewhat stock

So the Buick is the fastest in his garage right now.

Hey Scott, my brother just started building him self a mustang too come after me. Well, if I ever finsh one anyways

How is your bothers mustang running now? Did he get a 7 second run yet? I saw it one time and it looks like a sleeper.

i'll sell you my home. Its going on the market this summer, I plan on getting my moneys worth in quarts hills. New or newer homes, 10k+ square foot lot, pool, etc. 3500 sq. ft. home, I went yesterday to check them out! I dont like how far it is, but I sure do like the rv parking, pool, and big enough home to invite all the buick heads over for a pool party and still have room.... Like Roberts place in Riverside.... nice. Good luck on your search, just watch what you buy, and make sure the property tax is not too high, it kills me..
