Big Props to Mike & Kevin for helping out with the engine pull / breakdown, cleanup, and buildup
Not a bad days work for only 5 hours time (11:00 am till 4:00 pm) Cylinder walls were fine, piston tops were fine, no broken rings, all the rod bearings looked ok when pulled apart (typical wear), front and rear mains were ok, center billet mains were a different story and the thrust bearing was shot. No damage to the Eagle Steel Crank that light polishing didn't fix. We cleaned everything top to bottom, installed a new set of rod & main bearings, torqued to spec, re-installed the ARP head Studs, installed a new set of SCE Titan Copper Head Gaskets, put on the "freshly rebuilt" GN1 heads with new Comp Cam 135 lb double valve springs, cleaned & lubed the roller lifters, stage torqued the heads from 55 ft lbs up to 85 ft lbs, and called it a day Tomorrow I will re-torque the heads, install the roller rockers, double check the lifter preload, throw in some oil and prime the motor, and get it ready to slide back in Hopefully (if time permits) I will be back on the street before the weekend Again, thanks to Mike, Kevin, Brent, Lou and everyone else that offered their time, assistance, advice, and comments I was fully prepared to attempt this on my own, but it was really alot easier with 3 or more sets of eyes, hands, and multiple years of experience on hand to help matters out Later, Ray
