Qualcomm racing- worth it?

Hey there, been hearing a bit about Qualcomm stadium racing. MWR here on base even sells discount tickets whether you want to race or be a spectator. I was thinking of checking it out this weekend if I can get away, but was curious if anyone has run out there. I have heard it is basically like street racing, just grudge matches like on the street. No lights, no prep, etc. The heard from another that it is prepped, you have a tree, time slip, etc. Was thinking once I get my O2 issues fixed, and get my car from 4500 lbs back to 3500 I will give it a shot. (truck full of tools, etc from trip) I need to get it running right on 91 and low boost, then start playing with Razors alky I have installed.

If there is something better, somewhat nearby, let me know. I like the idea of the stadium because it is literally on the way home once I move into the house and off the ship.

PS: Any place to get methanol around here?

James

They prep it and have a tree with timeslips. I believe they even do a little bracket racing. Most guys just run heads up kinda like a test and tune. It's a good time, but no matter what it's still a parking lot so traction isn't always the best. What base are you on? I work on NASNI.

And I have yet to find a good source of methonal. Of course, I haven't looked to hard either. My car is usually broke.

omg

I saw your car a couple of weekends ago, I'm 99% certain anyway you must be the only clean GN on north Island with a kansas plate.

A couple of buddies and I were down there to do a bike ride down silver strand and back up to downtown.
Anyway, saw your car across the street from the chow hall parked along the road next to the theatre. Was wondering who's it was.

You definately need to hit up the Q, two tracks side by side, full timing equipment, announcers, music, decent crowd. I didnt know MWR had discouted tickets. I wonder if I can get some being on IRR.

Once I figure out where 200 hp went on my car since I got it backtogether Ill be heading down there. Let me know if you wanna hook up.

I carry methanol at the shop. Don't forget about Barona. They have a very nice 1/8 mile track. That's where the serious racers hang out. Excellent traction. No E.T. and MPH limit like the stadium. They do prep the launch at the stadium, but traction is still up and down. If your car is fast, stay out of the 2 right hand lanes at the stadium. The shut down for those two lanes is shorter than the 2 left hand lanes.

You should be able to. I'm IRR and have full MWR access.

yes you can, I run them all the time. You just need to mount them before you tech in or they will give you a hard time

BTW don, when will you be running your monster at barona again?

I met you once down there, I dont know if you remember, but I had the grey/primer t type on weld draglites running isopropyl at the time (running methanol now, much better). I raced your son a couple times

Hi Pablo. I do remember the car. I'm sure my son would remember better. The car is getting closer to being ready. The engine is done, waiting to install. I just finished mounting fiberglass doors today and still have the lexan windows to install. It should be track ready in 2 to 3 weeks with unpainted doors. I'll see you at the track. I plan on trying to make more stadium drags too.
