Emissions testing

Can i pass emissions in Illinois without an egr and a charcoal canister?

No way. I am certified in Virginia but every state has the same rules about all emission components being in place and connected.

If Illinois is still using I/M240, then the emissions test will not care about EGR, but because the emissions are tested from 0-35 and 0-56mph, I doubt your vehicle will be able to get through the I/M240 test without EGR. Especially if the emissions are tested in grams per mile.

ILLINOIS is not testing non obd2 cars anymore. as of feb 2 2007. they are not using im 240 anymore. just testing obd2 cars . they check to make sure all monitors have run. if you were due for emissions or you failed before feb 2 you will have to pass an idle test. then your exempt. check out their website. of course you still have to obey all state laws for emissions and have all emissions related components in perfect working order
