YF5 California emmissions equipment

Can anyone clarify option code YF5 California emmissions equipment?Was it just a recalibrated e-prom?

Mostly different prom. But the CA emissions option means the vehicle passed the federal test procedure (FTP) test. The prom difference is mainly the calibration for CO emissions, since CA is non attainment for NOx and HC (and attainment for CO), but back east has CO problems.

Thanks for the info,does that mean that the e-prom programming is even milder than the non California emissions e-prom?

More EGR will probably make CA leaner.
