Pinstriping a newly painted Limited?

Well, once I get the HVAC harness I'm waiting for, I'll be taking the Limited in to get painted. I have pretty much everything I need as far as the body goes. What is the best way to re-pinstripe the car? The window sticker says it had red pinstripes originally. Should they be painted on or taped on? Where do I get the paint or tape in the correct color? -----Jeremy

hmmm

was this a dealer add on or factory? My ASSumption would be dealer. I would think there wouldn't be too many varieties of colors for pinstripes, coming from dealer anyway. There are usually a different thickness and spacing if factory. Back when I was in the middle of restoring my camaro I did a lot of research on the pinstripe thing. The bottom pinstripes of course was changed year to year and was specific to each car. It was an actual part that could be purchased, expensive as hell also. Now, the top skinny stripes that ran the upper edge of t he car was aftermarket do to a paint job. But I have seen many in the junkyard with the same pinstriping with original paint. Mostly 85 and up. I know it's not TR specific , but it seemed a lot of 80s cars had them stupid things, such as your car. My guess is you could walk into any dealer or car quest for that matter and pick up the exact same or close. Or you could have it made by someone that has the "gun" (this is what I have heard) and have it applied. I'm not a car body guru. Hope this helps. OH, if you are still thinking v8 turbo. I came up with a cheapo way to do it with TPI.

Go with paint, more money but worth it. I used the tape kit on my last T and it just didn't hold up well.

Pinstripe if you must, but I'd skip it.
