powerlogger or scanmaster?

I am just now getting to the part where i need a scan tool. which is better a powerlogger or a scanmaster or can you run both? just from what i have gathered of reading threads it sounds like the scanmaster does more. is this right? also i got i big favor for whoever wants to tackle it. can someone explain the whole wide band, closed loop, open loop o2 deal? what is stock? which does what? I have no clue on that part. thanx BIG time!

Nothing is more powerful than Powerlogger, hence the name. It "touches"/reads virtually everyting in the ECM and all it sees, and does so at extremely high data rates, and logs data also. Scanmaster does not log data.

Scanmaster is a real nice "everyday tool" that reads the ALDL data stream. The scanmaster can also be hooked into the Powerlogger to read data not normally available to it (SM). Like WBO2 (if you have one), Boost and MAP (if you have a 3bar sensor), EGT (if you have one), along with the other things that scanmaster reads.
