Nothing really specific to the older systems in our Buicks. Direct Scan is the high end scan tool of choice for laptops, however, it requires WIN98SE or older and will not run properly in XP/2000.

I put a link to two of them here.

WinALDL/Turbometer Pro cables for free scantools

I use them both to watch my car and straighten out a friends GN.

I use TunerProRT on Windows XP without issue. You will need a MAFTPro in order to get it to work though.

Does it have a parallel port on it? most newer laptops rely on USB for printers now. I have a solution for using new laptops and XP. Read my other two posts.

Thats not needed with TunerProRT. I have a newer laptop, Pentium 4 2.6 GHz with 512MB of RAM. No serial port but it does have a built in floppy drive. This computer is running Windows XP Pro SP2 on an NTFS partition. TunerProRT installed and runs just fine. Yes, the MAFTPro box only has a serial port but I just use a serial to USB gender changer and everything is happy.
