Scanmaster on crack??

My Scanmaster is not working right. The readings on everything are WAY off and change to values that I KNOW are incorrect, then every 4th-5th frame, itll read the right values.I verified by TL which the knock readings on it were wrong according to SM when it was working right.

My knock gauge is working fine, thats how im sure I have no knock. That and the readings im getting from the SM are for up to 50 degrees of knock when cruising.Car also has a tank full of xcylene/93 blend,so roughly 100 octane. It just started doing this last night.Any ideas??

Maybe the signal coming on the aldal line isnt strong enough for both scantools?

I would have you inspect the connectors on your ecm for any corrossion or weirdness.

just pull them off the ecm and look. A lot of these cars seem to get theyre ecm's wet. Make sure the chip contacts and socket is clean as well. A simple q-tip and wd-40 works wonders.

Also on some cars, t-link can have issue with alky kits. I would tell you to turn off the alky and make sure its not interference cuasing the issue.

Post back,

Razor, I seem to be following you around alot today....

Anyway if you are using TL and SM together, Razor is right in that there is not enough contol on the ALDL line to simply attach the two devices in parallel.

The fix is the updated cable for TurboLink. Ken Mosher had helped me with this a few months back. The new cable has a rubber end that fits better on the ALDL connector and a new interface to the PC. It is not a "DIY" procedure and the cable connector needs to be sent in or updated.

Hope this helps......

No issue with DS.

Actually use it on a laptop thats battery powered. Bad things can happen if you get a glitch in the power with DS if using an inverter plugged into the cig lighter.
