scanmaster 2 questions
ok my buddy has a 87 national here are the mods:
206/206 flat tappet cam 009 injectors 42.5 port and polish heads vigalantie converter 3200-3400 stall t44 turbo 3 inch downpipe headers fuel pump relay upgrade I have been doing some searching about what is the "ideal" numbers to have on the scanmaster2. here are the number that he has at idle 50lbs vaccumm off -------- 43lbs vaccumm off O2 - 380-550 ---------- 437 KR - 0 ----------------- 0 AF 5 -------- 4 L8 32-34 ------- 28-30 INT 124-134 --------- 128 BL 116 ------------ 151 ATS 108 ---------------- 93 R 750 ------------------ 925 IAC 55 -------------- 56 CC 240 ------------- 230 42lbs vac off --------- 48 lbs vac off O2 445 ------------- 429 AF 4 -------------- 4 L8 28-29 -------------- 29-30 INT 128 --------------- 128 BL 154 --------------- 160 ATS 94 ----------------- 94 R 875 ------------------ 875 TPS .48 ---------------- .48 - .50 IAC 54 ------------------ 54 CC 231 --------------------- 228 45lbs vac off O2 437-445 AF 4 L8 28-30 INT 128 BL 160 ATS 93 R 875 TPS .48 IAC 57 CC 240 From what I have found the O2's are low, I messed with the fuel pressure as you can see but they would never go up to what I have seen to be right at 492-600. But at 19lbs of boost 0 KR the O2's are at 775. The AF is OK L8 is way low. How do I fix this? INT are to high but i dont know if that is ok or not. How do I fix this? BL is I think is to high I dont know. How do I fix this if wrong? ATS is ok IAC is is to high. I tried to adjust the throttle screw but it went anywhere from 54 - 66. DO I need to pull it out and turn it down? TPS is high. I know how to fix that. CC seems to be fine. Any help with the stuff would be much appreciated. I feel that the car has much more potental than it is showing now. The best at the strip was a 12.8. THe brakes need some work because when you try to tork it up as soon as it starts to build a pound of boost it blows the tires off. This was on 22lbs. The chip he has in the car is made by Quad Air INC. I have never heard of them and suspect this to be a big problem with the car. The chip is set up for the injectors. On my syclone I had to have a chip made for the injectors, turbo, cam, and head work. Is this how these cars are? If so I think that would be a problem. What chip should he go with in the car? He is going to order the MAF Translator this week as well. Thanks For Any Help James

The Quad Air chip is made by Red Armstrong. I run his chips and alot of people run his chip also with no problems. The chip has to be made for the injectors. If the chip is made for the injectors i doubt if there is anything wrong with the chip. Start the fuel pressure at 43psi and work from there. If your buddy ran with 19psi of boost at 0 knock and the O2s are at 775 at WOT that is fine. With the IAC you make little adjustments at a time shoot between 10 to 20. The TPS should be around .38 to .42.

You might want to get a few baselines done and then post the numbers again.
- The TPS is out of "idle", therefore some of the numbers aren't baseline. Get the TPS in the range of .38 - .44. Then get the IAC in the range of 10-30, hot idle, park, no AC. Everything else may change once you get the TPS corrected. - The O2's are a WOT only tuning tool. All other times, the O2's are bouncing because the ECM is adjusting rich-lean constantly. The WOT of 775 isn't bad. Some may consider that a bit low, but I wouldn't sweat it - watch the knock. - Double check for vac leaks and air leaks between the MAF and the turbo. The MAF of 4 is pushing the low end. - Watch the CC's during a cruise. They should climb to 255 and reset to 0, and keep cycling. This shows that the O2 is working. They relax at idle and climb slowly. - FPR set to 43 to 45 line off and go from there.

Ok i went and adjusted everything from the fuel pressure, TPS, and put a new IAC in the car tonight. To not get knock I put the fuel pressure up to 58lbs, the TPS is set at .42, and I had the IAC set at 19, but for some reason after driving around for about 25 min it went back up to 55. Why would it do that?? So that has me stumped. But here are the new numbers for the car.
O2 450 AF 4 L8 29 - 30 INT 128 BL 134 ATS 97 R 875 TPS .42 IAC 50 CC 0 - 230 he car seems to run alot better know but I just dont understand why the IAC would go back the that. Also could some one please explain to me what exactly L8, INT, and BL are or do. I am not real clear on those. Thanks for your help James

BLM shall be close to 128 so 134 is rather ok to me.
BLM has to do with how much the ECM puts or take fuel away from the car. If BL is over 128 it means it try to add fuel cause it thinks it going lean. If the bl is like 150 it can indicate that you have a vacumm leak somewhere. Daniel
