The files dont have to have any particular naming or file extension on them, you can name them anything you want. I like to hit F4 after a run and let the autosave put a .000, .001...extension on the files for me. Maybe stuff them all into a zip file before emailing might help. And a dos copy or windows copy achieves the same thing, there's no difference in format there either. What exactly is the problem your having? You say there's a problem sending, you should be able to use your email client and just browse to the floppy to add the DS file as an attachment.

the problem is......
I didn't have a problem sending it, I was sending it to Steve Y at Max-Effort and he said it had to be a .dat file so DS could read it. He opened the file and sent it back to me and it was just a series of numbers and letters. I'm kinda lost, I have no problem finding the file or loading it onto a floppy or sending it as an attachment but for some reason it can't be read........any suggestions?

I'll be glad to send these to anyone who might be able to see what I'm doing wrong..........when I get off work that is........I don't have them here with me..........or if Steve was to see this post before I get home, he might be able to send one of them out

It shouldn't be a problem, like BKS said the files don't need to have any particular extension. If you think it's important though, just rename the file and add a ".dat" to the end. Steve can do this as well, you shouldn't even have to resend the files to him. If the file is currently named "run_one", just use Windows Explorer or open up a DOS window and rename the file to "run_one.dat", and everyone should be happy. Doesn't change the file at all, just the name.

Hey Big Daddy, you tell Steve Y. that Dennis L. said he needs to go to the DS web site and download version 1.52. This version doesn't require the .dat extension. The previous version (1.5) did. V1.52 has been available since 2001, but he better hurry and get it before the 5 year warranty expires.

Well......
I have V1.52 and the 2 files big daddy sent just won't open for some reason. Keeps giving me "this is not a DS file" error. Any other files I have seem to work. I dunno, try sending them to Dennis or John and see if they can open them. If so, maybe they can send them to me and we'll go from there. Steve |

OK the last files you sent opened up
![]() NOW keep in mind there are 2 differant courses I give for this R thing. The long version consists of patience and understanding on my part. The short version has an agenda of critisism and ridicule. People seem to learn real fast with the last one ![]() Which way do you want to go on this? LOL! ![]() |

Dwayne so deserves ridicule. I vote short version. Give Dr. Phil his email address also.

Steve..........be patient........I'll come around........I'm just a hillbilly transplanted in the hoosier state.
As far as John goes.............have you ever wondered what a size 15 shoe would feel like nestled in between your ass cheeks in a forceful way........kinda makes a fella wonder doesn't it!
