We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of America's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, 'Mexifornia,' explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.


Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America!


The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, 'If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.''


'Here is how they do it,' Lamm said:


' First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: 'The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.' Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, Corsicans and Muslims.'


Lamm went on:


' Second, to destroy America, invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal; that there are no cultural differences. Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the
majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds/SPAN.


' Third, we could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec ' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: 'The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrism and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us
together.' Lamm said, 'I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.'


'Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.'


' My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victim.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority platoon.'


' My sixth plan for America 's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precepts. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The
Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece
took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. 'E. Pluribus Unum' -- >From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,'we will ' Balkanize ' America as surely as Kosovo. '


' Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits. Make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual /bicultural country, having established multi-cultism, having the large foundations fund the doc- trine of 'Victim,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America , it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them.'


In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, 'Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book 'Mexifornia.' His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book.'


There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.' American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America, Take note of California and other states. To date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book '1984.' In that story, three slogans are engird in the Ministry of Truth building: 'War is peace,' 'Freedom is slavery,' and 'Ignorance is strength.'


Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

if people knew anything about history, they would realize that this kind of hysteria happens every time we have a large wave of immigration. It happened in the 1840s/50s, when we had immigration from Europe that made the current situation pale in comparisson, and it happened again in the early part of the last century. in fact, I bet there are very few people on here that don't have any German, Irish, or Italian in them. Back then, all the WASPs were just as terrified as they are now that our "culture" was going down the drain and all that other crap. When all the Chinese came to the West coast looking for work on the railroads and gold fields in the mid 1800s, it provoked an even more extreme reaction than what we see against mexicans nowadays. they tried to use the power of the state to crush chinese businesses and culture any way they could.

but you know what history shows ALWAYS happens with immigrants in this country? the first generations of immigrants usually don't speak the language and mostly follow customs from the "old country." Their kids, the second generation, usually speak the language, but probably with an accent; they accept some of American culture, but still cling to lots of the old traditions. And by the third generation, they are fully integrated and are virtually undistingushable from other americans in speech and lifestyle. My dad's side of the family is made of recent immigrants, and it is interesting how closely their story parallells this three stage process.

The truth is that immigrants ALWAYS want their kids to learn the predominant language and learn American culture, because without it, they will stay poor and in the ghetto like their parents, and that's not why people come to America -- they come so their kids can enjoy the "american dream." I don't care what you say -- there is NOBODY in this country that can achieve the american dream of an upper-middle class living and a well-paying, non-labor intensive job without speaking English. It just doesn't happen, and it never will.

So to all you scared wasps out there, don't worry -- the only reason there is so much spanish spoken out there is that we are in a stage of relatively high amounts of immigration and there are lots of first-generation people out there. don't worry, their progeny will "assimilate" just like your ancestors did. Also, immigration is the only thing that will keep our nation afloat through the population decrease that the whole developed world is seeing right now. hell, we should be glad that we live in a country that people still want to come to. europe is facing many of our same population problems, but they don't have near as many people wanting in. and to you conservatives, you should be glad that mexicans are almost totally christian and are more religious than average americans, so you probably have a lot in common with them culturally. a lot more than all those anarchists, socialists, and atheists that came here from europe in the last immigration waves, anyway! lol.

Also, your fears about different cultures in different parts of the country creating tension and maybe wanting to break away have already been addressed by our founding fathers. That's why we have the unique system of semi-independent sovereign states bound by a (supposedly) limited federal government. the founders realized that, even in the colonial days, the various states have a lot of different cultural groups that do things in different ways, and they gave us a system in which every state can do things in a way that its own citizens approve of, while having a national government holding us all together that is supposed to only do the few things a national government has to do. As long as we stay with this federalist system, we will be fine. The countries that have suffered from so-called "balkanization" are in a totally different situation than us, and it is not caused by immigration. It is always caused by a large, imperialist power throwing together previously independent groups of people who have nothing in common together in one country. Of course the natural tendency is to break apart when that central power is removed. We saw this with the Serbs and the Croats, the Czechs and the Slovaks, and now the Sunnis, the Shia, and the Kurds in Iraq. We don't have a comparable situation here in America.

I also disagree with the idea that we have to have a pre-determined, monolithic Culture in this country, and I especailly disagree with the notion that the culture needs to be maintained by the government. The national culture, if there even is such a thing, is simply the aggregate of all our free individual citizens' ways of doing things. certain things catch on and become common, but different people will always do things in different ways. The things that become common among most of us usually do so because there is a percieved advantage to them -- such as speaking english. but in a free country, the government has no business enforcing their idea of what the culture should be like. it should always be up to free individuals how they want to live their lives. our culture should be just like our economy and our speech -- free and unregulated. and may the best ideas win.

Our backs are up against a wall. We can wake up and fight back - or we'll watch ourselves and everything that was great about this country get washed away by 50 million third Worlders and replaced with one or more banana republics with rule alternating between narco-crime gangs, death squads, and mobs - just like the rest of Latin America. The consistency of the American nation, that is, our culture and nationhood is being greatly damaged by immigration. It's not just about immigration as related to the economy, welfare, crime, government expenditures, population, and so on. Consistency of the American nation is about looking at America as a concrete, organic entity to which we belong and which forms our very being as Americans. It is to step outside the abstract language of liberalism and neoconservatism and to return to a traditionalist understanding.
