I think the questions were really good... some of the best on any political test i've seen. however, the way they are analyzed to get your score is not very good, and doesn't capture the full range of political thought... it just puts it in terms of conservative and liberal.

being that i am a libertarian, the test rightly deduced that when it comes to fiscal issues, i generally agree with the philosophy of conservatism. however, it said that I am a "centrist" on all other issues. those of you who know what i believe know that my beliefs are anything but centrist! The thing is that on social issues i tend to agree more with "liberal" views, but on things like the role of government and other stuff, i am strongly on the "conservative" side. My beliefs are pretty strong and extreme on both sides, but when put in terms of only conservative and liberal, they cancel out and it calls me a centrist.

Yep, mine was right in line with what I thought it would be. On certain social issues, I think the right is too controlling. On fiscal issues I think the left needs to stay out of my pocket!

On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Centrist (42).

yeah, but i thought the questions on this one did that less than lots of other political tests i've taken. most of the time, tests don't provide answers that are as "extreme" as my real beliefs -- for instance, on the gay marriage question, i've never seen a test that gives an option for the institution of marriage itself not even being a legitimate function of government, like i believe. however, at least on this quiz, it had an option for getting rid of the dep't of education altogether on the education question. there were a few other questions that provided answers a lot closer to my real beliefs than other tests i've taken, in which the answers just reflect the traditional left-right talking points positions.

On this one, it seems like if you're fiscally conservative but centrist on other things, you are a libertarian.
