I'm going to expect the Republicans, if they truly believe that they are doing the right thing, to fight for it and to call them on it and make them do it. Make them actually filibuster.

And not make them do the watered down, pussified, lets-be-gentlemen filibuster that their lazy asses have sunk to lately... make them talk 24/7. And as soon as they can't, or won't, talk anymore call a vote and pass the damn legislation. I sincerely doubt the Democrats have either the will or inclination to actually pull off a real honest-to-God filibuster.

When we elect people to Congress they are essentially set for life just on their pension and medical benefits alone. That's more than 99% of the rest of us can say. For that I don't think a little hard work and fighting for the kind of legislation we elected them to pass is too much to ask.

Quit defending them. They (the Republicans) didn't really care about anything except trying to stay in power. That's why they didn't do jack sh*t and that's why they got their stupid asses voted out.
Yeah, kinda like the Democrats did when they became the majority, on pulling out of Iraq.

There's been more than threats already. Not lately, of course, since they've had the majority for 18months now.

It's happened.

That's been awhile, but in the past, that has happened too. The only ones that come to mind are when the Democrats were trying to prevent the Civil Rights Act and two different Dems filibustered for over 14 hours EACH on two occasions. They set records, literally. But don't tell the Dems today, because they'll swear it was Democrats who pushed for, and got that act passed... Even though it's a complete fabrication of reality.

They do have to serve multiple terms before that takes effect these days. Personally, I'm all for term limits for Congress. 12yrs and OUT! It won't help much at first, but that would be a massive help down the road.

I won't argue you're wrong, but it's the exact same thing on both sides and Democrats are notably worse about it. I mean, they're literally LYING on purpose to get votes at this point. And when called in those lies, they're claiming to have been far too tired to be held responsible... But we're supposed to trust them as THE most powerful person on the planet. And if they get tired then? Heh... Senseless "way out" they use, but it evidently works.

This is yet another reason to force term limits, but they don't want to pass any such legislation. Heck, they rarely pass ANY unless it directly benefits them(or their family) individually.
