A new war is inevitable

I read this morning a report saying "Israeli Minister Says 'We Will Attack Iran' if Nuke Program Continues" and that the US will support any attack by Israel against Iran.

This will make the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan look like a training exercise. An Israeli attack on Iran will trigger a "Middle East War". Hamas, Hezzbola, with Syria's help will join Iran in attacking anything that is of Israels interest. That includes US targets in the region.

This is a main reason why I won't vote for McCain. He will give the green light, before Obama would.

The question is, what is Israel supposed to do? Iran will have a nuclear weapon if they do nothing, and Israel can't let that happen.

The world community needs to come together to suffocate Iran from within, by cutting off all business ties with Iran, limiting the amount of refined fuels to Iran, and other very aggressive sanctions. Not the sissy ones being thrown around now.

Now see the Dems and Republicans can agree every now and then. We definetly need to choke the life out of Iran through any means possible. I have never been a big believer in economic sanctions, not sure they are all that effective. Any comments?

I'm not sure if that was a reference to me, but if so I'm an independant.

Something, anything needs to be done to prevent a war with Iran. If the countries in questions were not sitting on top of the worlds oil I would say let the bombs fly, but a massive regional war in the middle east will equal $200+ per barrel of oil, which is best case. Worst case is that most of the oil in the region can't be shipped out anywhere becase of this new war.

No oil means other oil thirsty countries (russia, china, india) will be drawn into this new conflict.

I know others on here think that that will never happen and it is just speculative, but oil or the lack of it to Japan is what triggered Japan into bombing Peal Harbor.

Its either sit there and let your ecconomy die out with no energy, or fight for your countries survival. Most countries will choose the latter.

The next big war will be fought over oil, not over who has or wants to built nukes..time to buy some crude oil stocks.

They seemed to choke the life out of Iraq. If you read the ISG Duelfer report.
I know I just opened up a can of worms by posting this but not finding WMD is proof that they work.
We can get a consensus of countries to agree with sanctions , more than get countries to agree to go to war with Iran.
Unless you want to see our economy destroyed by $10 / gallon gas sanctions /diplomacy is the only sane way

Among the most diplomatically explosive revelations was that Hussein had established a worldwide network of companies and countries, most of them U.S. allies, that secretly helped Iraq generate $11 billion in illegal income and locate, finance and import banned services and technologies. Among those named are officials or companies from Belarus, China, Lebanon, France, Indonesia, Jordan, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

Duelfer said one of Hussein's main strategic goals was to persuade the United Nations to lift economic sanctions, which had devastated the country's economy and, along with U.N. inspections, had forced him to stop weapons programs. Even as Hussein became more adept at bypassing the sanctions, he worked to erode international support for them

When you have Russia, and to a lesser degree China standing behind Iran, you are going to find that limited embargo's are the very best the U.N. would be willing to place on them.

They U.N. did it to Saddam, and because of the gross corruption of the U.N. sec. General Kofi Annan, along with Russia, and the then corrupt left wing gov'ts of France and Germany, nothing was accomplished for the iraq people but Saddam and his group got exactly what they wanted for 11 BILLION dollars of "Oil for Food"!

Speculation from here is fun, but reality is that we will have to sit back, and watch the world's situation. One thing though, is for sure, NOTHING ever stays static in that part of the world.
