Cheney Apologizes for W. Va. Incest Joke
UPDATE: Vice President Dick Cheney has apologized through his spokeswoman for making an offhand joke during a speech at the National Press Club Monday stereotyping West Virginia as a state prone to incest.

Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride tells us, "The Vice President's offhand comment was not meant to hurt anyone. On reflection, he concluded that it was an inappropriate attempt at humor that he should not have made. The Vice President apologizes to the people of West Virginia for the inappropriate remark."

Cheney's statement came after West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin added his voice to the chorus of outrage from Mountain State politicians and demanded an apology from the veep.

"I truly cannot believe that any vice president of the United States, regardless of their political affiliation, would make such a derogatory statement about my state or any state for that matter," Machin said in a statement. "West Virginia is home to some of the most patriotic people in the nation and our sons and daughters have answered the call to duty every time a president has needed their service. They deserve better from the vice president, and so I would simply ask for his apology."

The Democrats know they are going to lose West Virginia in November (Since BO did horrible there) they are pulling out all the stops to be "OUTRAGED!!!!" at the MEAN Republicans.

Too bad the average person of West Virginia would think it was funny what Cheney said.

Perhaps Hillary (the left's FUTURE V.P.!!!!) should be taken to task also! October, 2007! Where was the anger? Who even reported it? Another NON-STORY, or MEDIA BIAS?????

"I was shocked when I learned Iowa and Mississippi have never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress. There has got to be something at work here," she said, theorizing it may be the risk-averse nature of a state built around agriculture.

"I think not only do I have to bring people to me, I have to maybe reassure people here maybe more than I do in New Hampshire, which has had a woman governor," she said.

"I think Iowa poses a special burden, or a special obstacle to me because when you look at the numbers, how can Iowa be ranked with Mississippi? That's not what I see. That's not the quality. That's not the communitarianism, that's not the openness I see in Iowa."

The utter disdain she demonstrates for those she considers beneath her is shocking and should call into question whether, if elected, she will be a president for all the people instead of just those she considers worthy.

And what does "communitarianism" mean? Sounds like Clintonian double-speak to me. Whatever it is, Mississippi doesn't have it and she thinks less of them for it.
