Bush and Cheney Step Down?

We all have our disagreements with President Bush.
Immigration, U.S.Attorney firings, Iraq, Darfur, etc., are all hot
topics these days. The following "speech" was recently written as a joke.
While satirical in nature, all satire must have some basis in fact to
be effective. An excellent piece by a person who does not write for a
living. (Sent with the author's permission.)

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:
Normally, I start these things out by saying "My
Fellow Americans." Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I
don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something
terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any
longer. I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before
anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office. The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people. I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out. Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of
you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeowners including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And
while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as
low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I've mentioned all
those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in. Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in
other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are
more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your
economic security. We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this
"blood for oil" thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would've already seized
Iraq's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't
give me this "Bush Lied People Died" crap either. If I was the liar you
morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in
Iraq so they could be "discovered." Instead, I owned up to the fact that
the intelligence was faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the
world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you
that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named "Clinton" established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you? You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back
during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them. That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you. And the
bastards are all over the globe. You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of
intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have
worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of
you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season
of "Survivor." Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of
seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops. Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing. In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol. I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is
where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I
to do so, it would sail right over your heads. So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no
one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old
age before the last pillars of America fall. Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That mean Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there're
just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing
around in 2008. So that's it. God bless what's left of America. Some of you know what I mean.

"Live each day to the fullest. Live each day with enthusiasm,
optimism and
hope. If you do, I am convinced that your contribution to this
wonderful
experiment we call America will be profound." -Ronald Reagan

Interesting. I wonder how the country would be after an ultra right winger is replaced with an ultra left winger. Why is it so difficult for the US to elect a person who is right down the middle, just like most Americans are. I just hope that in 08 we elect somone in that category. Whether its a republican or a democrat it wouldn't matter just as long as they represent what most americans want. For me it would be a President who puts U.S. national security first, helps restore our ecconomy, health care, and the environment but also allows us Americans to keep what we earned without wasting billions of tax dollars on useless programs or programs that are poorly managed.

Is it Obama or Clinton? Is it Guliani or Romney? I don't think anyone knows this or will know this untill that person is in office. Basing that judgemnet on election speaches is just a waste of time. People say what they think you want them to say and thats it. Its only when that person is in office will the real candidate come out.

I unfortunatly voted for this president twice, but for me i'm just putting that chapter of American history behind me and looking to a new future most of us can be happy with.

Eric

Bush is/was "right down the middle".

The left portrays him as a ultra right wing Nazi, but if he had a "D" by his name, nearly EVERYTHING he has done would have been supported by Democrats.

How many "ultra right wingers" would have worked with Ted Kennedy on an Education Bill, Handed out free Prescription drugs for seniors, signed McCain-Feingold and want to give Amnesty to illegal aliens?

None that I know of. Most Democrats are on board with this, however.

He may deviate from his base 2 or 3 times in 8 years, but he is no way down the middle, not even close. His father and Regan were more towards the middle. He is 100% pro-life, loves tax cuts(as do i), and is all about military build up. Just look at who he appoints to the supreme court.

I shouldn't say he is ultra right wing, but he is the most right wing president we have had in generations. No one can argue that.

ROTFLMAO " down the middle? at what angle / dimension are you using to scan the polical landscape????????????. If what you "use" to deduce that is not an illegal crop , you should bottle it and sell it under the brand name "delusional". You could make a mint.

Gee he worked w/ ted on a good piece of legislation, I guess a good GOP would dismiss it because it came from the other side of the aisle??

And the prescription Drug Law was just a big gift to BIG PHARMA, very little concern was for the elderly IMHO

If "concern for the elderly" means that I'll be taxed more in the future to pay for rich old people's drugs, the bill had more "concern for the elderly" 95% of concervative Republicans have.

It was a stupid Bill we will be paying for for the rest of our lives and the ONLY reason it passed was the bill proposed by the Democrats was even stupider.

Is it sinking in yet the GOP gave a big gift to PHARMA at your expense but they still have your interests at heart and you blanket vote.

'Right wing' typically denotes a very conservative position. Bush(43) is very far from conservative. Reagan was a true conservative and I don't think I'd call 1989 "generations" apart from today. Both Reagan and Bush(41) were pro-life and both liked tax cuts themselves, though they didn't accomplish what Bush(43) has in that regard.

Aside from that, I've read the 'speech' somewhere else recently and got a laugh from it.

No way is Bush more conservative than Reagan. Reagan tried amnesty and realized it was a mistake. If Bush was more conservative than Reagan, he wouldn't try it again.

As the years pass, the perception of what a conservative is becomes more and more liberal.

JFK was more conservative than the current Bush.

As bad as the Republicans are, they are still light years ahead of the Democrats concerning "my interests".

You are correct that you are

Nope. This guy is guilty as hell, no matter what party he is from. What you said is just the opposite. All the terrible things he's done are protected by that R next to his name.
Take a look at congress. Lowest approval ratings ever. Because we democrats stand for principles and when our leader F up, we dont blindly support them. We dont fall for talking points or spin like the right.
So when the democrats issued the talking points that "they didnt have the votes to end the war"
We called BULLSHT!

You guys on the right should stand for something.

Put down your pipe.

You Democrats had your chance to prove you could SOMETHING other than bitch about the Republicans and you didn't take it.

Love em or Hate em...the Republicans do what they say they will do.

You guys on the left should get off your ass and do anything. Even if you did the WRONG thing it would be an improvement over doing NOTHING.

You're like the welfare state class of big government....you draw a check for doing NOTHING.

This... and I realize the scope of what I am about to say... may be the single most clueless thing you have ever posted.

Republicans who F up are generally run out of town... the list is long.

Democrats who F up are generally re-elected... the list is equally as long.

Your attempt at staking out some kind of moral high ground for the party that prides itself on having no morals is almost comical.

You're right.

It's like the Democrats keep their moral compass in a room full of magnets.
