As bad as the Republicans are...

Only the DNC can lose when two Democrats are running:

DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE WORKED TO DEFEAT NAGIN

From Drudge:

**Exclusive**

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) secretly placed political operatives in the city of New Orleans to work against the reelection efforts of incumbent Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean made the decision himself to back mayoral candidate and sitting Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu (D-LA), sources reveal.

Dean came to the decision to back the white challenger, over the African-American incumbent Nagin, despite concerns amongst senior black officials in the Party that the DNC should stay neutral.

The DNC teams actively worked to defeat Nagin under the auspice of the committee's voting rights program.

The party's field efforts also coincided with a national effort by Democrat contributors to support Landrieu.

Landrieu had outraised Nagin by a wide margin - $3.3 million to $541,980.

Preliminary campaign finance reports indicate many of Landrieu’s contributions came from out of state white Democrat leaders and financiers, including a $1,000 contribution from Sen. Ben Nelson's (D-NE) PAC.

The defeat of Mitch Landrieu is the latest setback for Dean's often criticized field operation.

In his victory speech late Saturday night, Nagin praised President Bush.

"You and I have probably been the most vilified politicians in the country. But I want to thank you for moving that promise that you made in Jackson Square forward," Nagin said.

Developing...

My only question is Why would someone spend $3.3 million to be Mayor of New Orleans?

Nagin is not that bad. He would be a Republican except for the practical matter of the impossibility of a Republican winning any city-wide New Orleans election.

He says some stupid things sometimes (obviously), but don't we all?

Looks like a problem within the Democratic party. First there was Carl McCall, a black candidate for governor in New York that Howard Dean slapped down to support a white candidate. Now there's Ray Nagin in New Orleans, a white candidate for Mayor that Howard Dean slapped down. Explain this (I can't be a racist because I am not from the South) JSA. The White leader of the Democratic party is not from the South but is a racist. Do I need to post some more on Dean to prove he hates blacks?

Nagin outlived his usefulness and now they want him gone. Won't happen for a while now.

As for the Reps, it seems they have tossed away their chance and hanging onto congress with the illegal alien/SSN vote. So many Conservatives are angry at them for ignoring their base, they plan to stay home. If McCain gets the Presidential candidate nod, I'll stay home since he's basically a Dem anyway. Funny, the Dems can only win when we let them. Too funny and sad.

I'll accept your assessment.

Why don't you Righties post another "source" for this information other than a right wing drab website?? Can't find any??

I know you guys want to turn this into a racial issue, but it isn't. I'm sure Dean would support "the most qualified" candidate. Ray Nagin, after watching him at a recent New Orleans "get together" with his own people on CSPAN doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed. Has nothing to do with his race. But the people of New Orleans feel comfortable with him. And he did slam Boosh for being the tool that he is. So whatever.

What I'm concerned with is, the folks at NOAA say this hurricane season is expected to be worse than the last one and according to news reports, the whole affected area has no plans for evacuations. New Orleans supposedly had contracts set up with Amtrak to evacuate people that haven't been paid for. And the head of NOAA last night on CNN said that with all the trains, busses, etc, there still wouldn't be enough transportation to remove all the people in time to miss another katrina type hurricane.

And remember.......

DONT TRUST RIGHTY
