Oh, and there was so much done during the Clinton administration to head off and solve this problem. Why weren't the studies done then and the recommendations put into place. I am not blaming this totally on the Clinton administration but the author of the story worked for Clinton during his eight year presidency. Sounds like this football was passed around for over 40 years. Enough blame to go around for everyone.

Funny how Mr. Blumenthal gets this story published in a German newspaper and not an American. Another instance where a leftist nutcase bashes American from foreign soil.

Thumbs up

Only a desperate political party would try to make a natural disaster political.

Keep it up.

Maybe Cindy Sheehan can weigh in, too so she can get her ugly mug back in the newspapapers.

Funny coming from someone who was a Clinton advisor for 8 years when nothing was done. Another America hating liberal. Not to mention that this is a cataclysmic disaster of huge proportions, tell me, what political party do you think runs things in New Orleans? How many decades do you think they've been in charge of one of the most corrupt cities in the USA? I just wonder.

If he hands out water, its "political". If he stays in Washington, "he doesn't care".

Just shut your yap and stop blaming Bush for natural disasters. You'll look less like a petty idiot.

Oh no. From the New York Times...

"No one expected that weak spot to be on a canal that, if anything, had received more attention and shoring up than many other spots in the region. It did not have broad berms, but it did have strong concrete walls."

Shea Penland, director of the Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of New Orleans, said that was particularly surprising because the break was "along a section that was just upgraded."

"It did not have an earthen levee," Dr. Penland said. "It had a vertical concrete wall several feel thick."

Sidney Bluemthal's hypothisis that it was "all Bush's Fault" may be faulty if even the New York Times isn't taking the bait.

Wouldn't the people in the Federal Government who slashed the budget for the canals and levees be partially to Blame? The rep from the Army corps of engineers discussed how their budget was descimated by this administration. I can see why. We'll take the money keeping the coast of Louisana safer from flooding and send it to Iraq

We'll just ignore the fact that those people have been living below sea level since forever, and never took it upon themselves, to go for Level 5-ing, anything.

How about talking about all the Pork that was in the budget?.

How about talking about all the base closings, and military cuts other then for the war.

How about remembering *WE* as a NATION decided the war was worth while.

What about the GOP senator from Illinois who just recieved a Sh!tload of dough from the new Transprtation Bill who was quoted as saying "we shouldn't bother rebuilding in that area"?
Didn't he later apologize for that truly insensitve remark?

Yes N.O. is under sea level, so? it has been for centuries. It isn't geograhically perfect but many love it and called it home.

We as a nation didn't decide anything. The Project for the New American Century think tank decided through fear and power that the war in Iraq was worth fighting, by hijacking the real fiscally resposible GOP in 2000

Can anyone tell me what this has to do with the hurricane?

QUOTE: "In the two weeks preceding the storm in the Gulf, the trumping of science by ideology and expertise by special interests accelerated. The Federal Drug Administration announced that it was postponing sale of the morning-after contraceptive pill, despite overwhelming scientific evidence of its safety and its approval by the FDA's scientific advisory board. The United Nations special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa accused the Bush administration of responsibility for a condom shortage in Uganda -- the result of the administration's evangelical Christian agenda of "abstinence."

How the hell can the Bush Administration be responsible for a condom shortage in Uganda? And why should we care? And what on earth does it have to do with the Hurricane? And did I also see something in there about racial profiling by police? If this article isn't a disgusting attempt by some pathetic liberal to use the Hurricane as a platform to bash Bush and further push thier own agenda I don't know what is. This article is a disgusting, pathetic, inflammatory, irrisponsible excuse for journalism if I've ever seen one.

And who are these supposed "four leading environmental groups?" Has anybody ever heard of one that has any credibility at all? If there is one - then why isn't it named in the article, or footnoted as a source? How much of this sick political rant is even true?

Uganda: "Give Us Condoms, or Give Us Death!"

Drought. Famine. AIDS. Just a few of the many plagues Bush has forced upon Africa, if not the entire world. Now, thanks to his primitive views against casual sex and abortion-on-demand, Bush is withholding millions of life-saving prophylactics from the peaceful, yet incredibly horny people of Uganda. According to the United Nations, Uganda is 30 million latex condoms short of the 150 million it needs to survive, and is experiencing a frightening shortage of french ticklers as well. Indeed, the entire African continent is on the brink of a "condom crisis" unseen since the middle ages, and Bush's puritan religious idealogy is to blame.

Although he claims it isn't an "abstinence only" policy, Bush's African AIDS-prevention program preaches "Abstinence, Be Faithful, and Use Condoms". As research shows, the mere mention of "abstinence" is the leading cause of teen pregnancy - perhaps why our founding fathers never included the ghastly word in the Constitution- and anything short of "Put this on and get busy" could pose serious health risks. With sexual attacks against women and children on the rise, this is no time for Bush to duck out on his responsibility to keep Uganda supplied with rubbers, either.

I, for one, will not sit idly by while Bush recklessly destroys another peaceful nation in the name of his extremist religion. I encourage all my readers to send their new or slightly worn condoms to the United Nations, so that they may be distributed equitably among the suffering people of Uganda in a variety of sizes and, if possible, ribbed for her pleasure.

now it's superbricks turn.....................first quick, weee, foolis and now a name that hasn't been around for quite some time.

if the Governor of......let's say NJ, had a plan all along that accomodated every citizen in Jersy under similar circumstances yet wasn't put into action by.............let's say........the Governor, the blame is shifted because..................................because why? an officials inaction. After all, we elect local officials to do what? Keep government small, close and in contact with the villages. Is it much easier for small towns to get something done than the feds? yup ..............did they?......nope

the blame game is in overdrive with plenty to go around but when the Governor starts crying, literally, I would feel REAL confident of that persons leadership.

Join in the cryfest left, it does no good for the solution. .............but that is the mantra now isn't it?

Superbird just came out from under his rock to join in the unrelenting Bush bashing. Now, he caused the Hurricane.

And the Governor was simply suffering from PMS. What's the bitch?
