Anyone here into firearms?

I spent this afternoon blowing about 400 rounds of .45 ACP down range in a Kimber 1911.

It was fun...I have't been to the range in a while and it felt good.

Screw John Kerry.

I do not own any handguns yet but I have a bushmaster AR-15,Ruger 10/22,and a Mossberg 500 sawed off with a pistol grip.

Enough to get things done.I need to go spend some rounds too and get the AR zeroed in.

With the kind of crime we have been seeing here in Dallas I am going to buy my wife and myself a few handguns and get our concealed carry permit.

A couple of years ago I took my wife to the range often and got her proficient with a Glock 19.

I took her today and I am watching her shoot at the target...but no holes are appearing. I figure the target was out too far so I crank it in a little and still no hits.

I took a look at how she was holding the gun and the barrel was almost pointing at the floor. She was lining the rear sight up on the target but not the front.

I think I will take her to practice more often if she is going to be my backup.

We used to have a local competition of *Pin Guns*. The object was being timed, and *driving* bowling pins off a picnic table at various distances. Stock or long slides. The EPA might call it a super fund site one day, from all the lead in the ground....

The best use of .45 ACP, IMO, is a drum feed Thompson.

I wonder if the those that seek gun control, will win in America. It seems like England, would be good evidence of it not working. According to a guy I know that lives just outside London, they Boobies are so busy now, they don't respond to anything that's not involving an injury. Burgalaries are just not important enough to respond to now.

When guys are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

As far as our country has gone to the left....I don't see the same kind of gun control that Australia and England have in place. I could be wrong but lord I hope not.

I suspect a massive round of gun thefts will be reported if such legislation were put into place.

Me...I am planning on stocking up on all of the now legal...formerly illegal....firepower that I can afford.

Funny you should mention a Wilson...I am about to buy another 1911 and I can't decide whether I just want to buy a high end 1911 already built or start with something like a Springfield Mil-Spec and try my hand at building my own nice 1911.

I would like to shoot a high end gun just to see if it is any different. I find the mid range guns like a Kimber to be as accurate as I would ever need.

Have you ever shot a higher end gun?

ive fired a Wilson and honestly, you wont beat Kimber for the money

My tactical pro shoots just as good as the Wilson I fired.

its just one of those things.....Wilson is considered the "pinacle" of 1911s, so I wouldnt mind owning one.

but it is hard to justify spending the money on Wilson, Les Baer, or Ed Brown, when right out of the box, most Kimbers have the same features and shoot just as good.

Not only would you see gun thefts on the rise, crime would shoot straight up.I would hope most people would be brave enough to fight back against the govt trying to take our guns and 2nd ammendment right away.I would also hope that ALL gun owners would be smart enough to see what the govt is trying to do to its people by taking their ability to protect themselves away.

The next thing they would take after guns is propery, forget immenent domain.

After property is liberty and welcome to the bread lines and rationing.

They are already taking property. All it takes is a vote.

Who ever thought the Supreme Court would sell out to commercial enterprise over the rights of the individial?.

America, is being over run by the vocal. Just yell and repeat lies long enough, and the herd just goes along with the *new truth*.

We're to the stage of where people constantly blame for the administration for the problems they've generated, ie if you only buy shoes made in China, because they're cheap, don't be surprised when all the shoe manufacturers move there (shoes only being one of numberous items).

Yes but they also have to offer you reimbursement also now.

Without guns they need no votes, nor do they have a reason to reimburse you.

Speaking of .45s, I picked up a recently made Springfield Armory 1911 A1 a few months back. Very nice gun. Very well made. No problems what-so-ever and it's as accurate as I could ask for. Worth every penny at $500.

What bothers me is how many people are so utterly ignorant of what is needed to survive a lethal force confrontation. Some cop shoots some scumbag- 100% justifiable/legal shooting. Then all the moronic know-nothings scream bloody murder about how the evil cop murdered the poor person. They cry about how the cop should have fired a warning shot, should have shot them in the leg, or not shot at all. Forget that would have ended in the cop's death or severe bodily harm. As usual, it's people with a leftwing slant or those who decide entirely off emotion (usually the same people). Even when you explain in a detailed, intelligent manner what was done and why, they still refuse to listen. Many of them go off what they've seen in the movies as to what a firearm can do. Folks, I'm ignorant of what it takes to run a nuclear power plant, but I'm not going to watch a movie about one and then demand they do things differently in the real world based off that. That's exactly what the loons I mentioned are doing. Now you see why I think such people are mentally ill.

My wife did the same... same model even... I think... isn't the 19 the full size 9mm?

anyways, I tried to show her a little bit, but after 10 years together, we can work well together just not direct each other

To make a long story short, I paid for an hour of instruction and it was the best $40 we ever spent. she came back in 15 minutes and her first clip out was 5 for 5 in the eye...

So, naturally, I had to get the same too

Neat stuff, I recommend some training to anyone who has never had it before. I had plenty of training from an ex-military sniper with a rifle when I was young, but never got into handguns until several years ago. The training is well worth it.

I would love to be into them, but I live in NYC and can't get one, even though my record is clean. Shame on the Supreme Court for not striking down these gun laws. And if some liberal crap-head dares to say "I though you conservatives supported states rights?" then I will gladly tell them states rights don't apply if there is an ammendment (this on being the 2nd) and it's in the Constitution!
