Conservatism and Fascists!

When Americans think about fascism, they think of the horrors and insanity of Hitler and the Nazis. If that's all that fascism was, it would be unconscionable to link conservatives and Republicans with fascism. But here's one definition of fascism:

"Fascism is the belief that what the country needs most is to be financially strong and safe from outside threats, and that this is best achieved by allowing business more control of government and by reducing privacy and human rights as needed to remain safe. Fascism makes us feel good about ourselves as we draw together to fight a common outside enemy. Fascism appeals to the poor because it rouses religious and patriotic feelings of community and self-sacrifice in the name of a higher good; it appeals to the wealthy who gain power, status, and money; it appeals to the middle class who have by circumstance become poor or failed. Fascism draws to it those who enjoy power as well as those who feel powerless, afraid, or inferior and want to feel strong and superior. Some say that the fear that is so much a part of fascism is linked to the believer's personal fear of their own desire, passion, or other kinds of loss of control. Fascism usually includes an attempt to control private desire, such as sex, dance, free speech, and the arts. These are seen as dangerous."

People forget that many people in the United States were strong believers in fascism, in particular many conservatives, Republicans, and leaders of industry. The anti-Semitism of Henry Ford was a key inspiration to Hitler and Ford both contributed financially to Hitler and was given an award for his work for the Nazis. Other American leaders gave technological advances to the Nazis and tried to withhold them from the United States. Still others from major corporations met with the Nazis to discuss a coup to take over the United States. During the Great Depression, as in any time of economic downturn, fascism becomes an appealing way to stabilize the nation -- and, for some, to make a profit at the same time. Fascism is always fueled by fear, greed and the desire for power. In the name of patriotism, great profits are possible.

Sometimes it's hard to see that the patriotism of a nation is being fueled by those who are making a tremendous amount of money. Follow the money, follow the fear, and you will find conservatives and fascists.

So true..... so true. Extreme anything is bad. The usual cohorts here have always been laughed out of the mainstream. People would give them that wild eyed eyeball, then their eyeballs would go into the backs of the heads while walking away in anticipation of them trying to shoot a doctor or bomb an abortion clinic. Fascism is characterized by state control of everything a la Communism, but all of the power within that state is wielded by a single man. The government controls everything, and control of the government lies in the hands of the leader.

Another factor is that the 'cause' is always more important to the individual except the leader. The weak are to be sent to the front to weed them out first.

So you see, you're leftist spin, to discredit conservatives as fascists, is as bogus as your identity.

What you commies can't get through your head is that you no longer have a monopoly on information. The days of ABC, NBC, and CBS, controlling and spinning all information of what's going on in the world, are long gone. You just don't get it. That's why you are losing. People always knew how they felt, what their values were, but the media was always telling them something different. Even John F. Kennedy was a conservative by today's standards. He wouldn't recognize the DIMocrat party of today. The conservatives have only been coming back for 15 years, and we've taken the majority in government in 1994. There are liberal Republicans dragging down our movement but we're going to get rid of them. We realize we have a long way to go, because you people have been spewing your communist propaganda for the last 50 years, and the MSM still is. Political correctness is deeply ingrained in our society, but we will get rid of it. You got your commie school programs and your commie college professors, but people will listen to their inner voice, and the other voices out there explaining what it is to be a conservative. Most know what's right, and that would be what is right, not what is left.

Supremacy of the Military: Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

Rampant Sexism: The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

Obsession with National Security: Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses

Religion and Government are Intertwined: Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

Corporate Power is Protected: The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite

Labor Power is Suppressed: Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts: Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations

Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media.
