Look into the powertrax lock right differential setup. It goes into your stock open carrier. No need to even pull the carrier out of the car. Buddy of mine has it in his car (also an 8.5 10 bolt) and he loves it. I think he got it from summit. I still have the box if you need the part number or anything.

That seems interesting. I would like the part number if you have it. I think I found it on Summitracing.com. Is your buddy's car street driven or is it race only? Are there any downsides to this unit over an eaton posi unit??

Part number is 1920-LR. As far as reliability, you ought to do a search here or on google, because he doesn't have many miles on his yet. But it's a very easy install, without needing to set backlash or gear pattern. The box says it's a richmond lock-right. I think it's advertised as a powertrax. It's very quiet, you can turn tight circles without it catching, but floor it and it's definitely locked. Hope this helps.
