The PT54 needs a 3000 stall with an 8.0:1 engine. Its a slug otherwise.

im ok with slugish for now. looking to have nice daily driver not race car. if race car was desired would drop 455 tt lol , but need better gas mileage right now. You think a stock stall would be that bad?? turbo has small "quick" spool housing supposedly

It will spool pretty slow. You would be better off downsizing turbos then too. I drove a car with a 54 and stock TC and it was pretty bad. Or go to a 44/49/32 turbo as well as stock TC.

It will still suck. I tried it myself. The 3000 stall turned the car into an animal. This was back in 99. The converter tech is much better today. The 455 wont get you anywhere compared to one of these as far as racing or economy goes for $ spent. Not even in the same playing field. If you want economy and to be able to retain the stock converter go with the stock turbo. The 54 is pretty much useless vs stock under 17 psi. It worked the best for at 24-25 psi. 124+mph trap speeds.

Sorry for polluting the thread.
