Talking small block s-10

we were out cruising a local town (known for street racing)with my buddy who was driving his v-6 mustang (with a S.C. t-bird blower + other mods we did) i was in the sport coupe, no cars caught my eye until i pulled up next to a rusty s-10 by listening to it i could tell this was no 4 or 6 cyl. it sounded like a mild chevy small block. we caught the second stoplight, i looked over and 2 older guys were in it, both were looking at me i nodded, with a slight grin,( i thought OHH ****E, im only pushing 10 psi boost due to bad gas) but there was a clear street ahead, the light changed, both of us eased away from the light, he got on it a little, i paced him , he got on it a little more i pulled right back next to him, i heard him stand on it , well so did i , he pulled me for about half a second then i hit second and slowly (and i mean slowly) passed him by the time 2 blocks passed i only got him by three quarters of a car length- no clue how fast, then stoped for a stoplight (this is downtown!), i looked over , they were both staring at me, the passenger asked "that a small-block?", i said "not even, its just a V-6".light changed they turned off and i babied it away. a few days later my mustang friend was in town and saw him cruising, he witnessed the run so he called me and told me he was there, i told him to ask him what was under the hood, turns out it was a 327 with a cam and exhaust, in a 2500 lb. truck,--- another victim of the mighty le-sabre, he-he-he-he-he.
