First kill if it counts

I went for a cruise with the wife last night. We just left the house and I get up to the stop light. I notice a small black car behind me at the last minute he whips around and gets in the right lane. Its a younger kid in Ford Focus ZTS. We were both watching the other light for the jump. He ended up jumping early and I zipped past him I could hear he was winding the hell out of the little 4 banger with a stick. I waxed him like he was sitting still. My wife and I were laughing for the next few miles. Man was that fun. I was hoping my first kill would be against something more respectable. But what the hell he was sure trying.

I know the feeling. I hated Escort Gt's. Back in the late 80's, these cars were still newish but had been around long enough for stock Vette's, F-bodies and 5.0's to know better, I could pull up to a light with either of them and we would leave all civilized like. When ever I would end up next to an Escort Gt the driver would rev and pump the clutch. The light would change and they would try to leave hard. This usually made me irritated enough that I would play catch up and by mid second gear it was over.

Escort Gt's, the first American Rice.

Worry not. There are a couple different levels of "kill".

The little 4 bangers should be considered a "lesson", or an rudimentary introduction to the Turbo Buick. This is an easy thoughtless kill and is used as a warning to the perp and others in traffic. (1/4 throttle kill)

Then you get into the entry level cars. Stock 8 cylinder "performance cars". This kill requires a little more care as you do not want to blow the tires off teaching this lesson. (1/2 throttle kill)

Now we get into the serious kill. Mudstains, Vettes, etc. and other mildly modified "performance cars". This is a meticulous full throttle kill - but - only at street boost levels. This is treated more like a pseudo "on the track" race. Race'm like you are going to lose your pink.

The "maybe kill" is where you just aren't sure. The level playing field race. They don't know what you have and you don't know what they have. This one usually ends in a parking lot hand shake and a "wow, nice car" conversation. Or someone's going to jail with a black eye and a bloody nose.

Good kill. The only bad thing is you are reducing the street kills for the rest of us. That guy ain't gonna try that again.

LOL Great post! That is totally true. Yep I can honestly say he won't try that again. He got a nice long look at the "BUICK" emblem on my trunk too.
