BS times or not?

A guy I was racing when I blew my tranny took his car to the track the other day. He has a 98 Cobra with some mods. He ran slicks too. He said he ran an 8.7@78 in the 1/8 and a 13 flat@98 in the 1/4. This was with a 2.0 60 foot time. I figured a 8.7 in the 1/8 with a 98 mph trap speed in the 1/4 is a high 13 to low 14. Is it just a freaky number or what?

A 2.0 60ft on slicks? Those times are bull****. His 1/4 mile mph is off. If I can remember correctly my car went that mph in the 1/8 ,but the car went 12.60's at 108mph on motor ,and when the car was stock it went 13.90's at 98mph.

With that mph and 60', he would have ran high 13's. My Duramax runs the 1/8 at 79mph. My 60's are in the low 1.8's

total bs my car runs 78.7 in the 1/8 and 13.6 at 97.8 this was with a 1.921 60ft think a 13.0 should be at least 100mph and that would have to be with a great 60ft?

there is an 03 cobra here in town that i would not dare to race, he has a kenny bell charger on it, suspention is all hooked up,exaust, slicks, running 22psi with race gas, made 646hp to the rear wheels and close to 700 pounds of torque, all i can is that car is wicked fast, sounds like a cat in heat going down the quarter mile, that charger is loud..

With a 2.1 60 ft I went 13.38 @ 105.42. In order to run 13 flat with only a 98 mph trap you have to launch like a bat out of hell and get an awesome 1/8. A 2.0 60 ft and 8.7 1/8 just wouldn't cut it. But then I wasn't there and don't know the guy so who knows.

My stock 87 GN went 14.7 @ 94 with a 2.3 60ft. My WE-4 went 13.3 @ 103 with a 2.0 60ft.
His 1/8 time and mph sound right. The corresponding 1/4 mph is also about right but the ET is BS. He i running a 13.8 -14.0 in the 1/4. Maybe he meant 14 flat.

I called him on it. I showed him my time slips and he pulled his out. The best I saw was a 13.78@ 98 mph. I would have thought his 60 foot time would have been better since he did run slicks and had a manual tranny. The time slips I showed him were pitiful though. I couldn't launch harder than 3 psi that night for some reason. I ran slicks so I was definitely trying to launch hard. The boost would go as high as 3 psi and only up to 5 psi when I started my run. It would stay at 5 psi until halfway through second gear. Then it would all of a sudden come to life. It did this on every single run I made that night. Needless to say my 60 foot times were in the 2.2 to 2.3 range all night. I also seemed to be letting off early as my 1/8 mile times were high 70s and my 1/4 mile times were low 60s. My best pass was a mid 14..lol. I would imagine a clean pass would have been easy 12s. Since that night the boost problem has gone away. The O2 sensor did die on my last pass along with the start of several days of constantly blowing fusible links on the starter. Now if I can only get the tranny right.
