Cam Position Sensor, Crank Sensor, Balancer
Are there any other cars that use the same Cam position sensor, Crank position sensor, and harmonic balancer as my '87 GN? How about the FWD models? Dave C.

The cam sensor and balancer are 84-87 Turbo only(89 TTA also) but the crank sensor is the same on 86-88 FWD with the 3.8 FI motor VIN code 3(8th character of VIN). Make sure you get it with the mounting bracket as there are 2 styles depending on whether it is OEM or a replacement.

Thanks. I also need a map sensor and the ignition control box (the one on the passenger side fender. I picked up a couple of the ignition boxes, but the #s are different. Dave c.

The stock MAP sensor(2 BAR) is the same for any turbocharged or supercharged GM model. Look for late 80's 4 cyl turbo Sunbirds or 91 and later S/C Park Ave/Bonnevilles. The 3 BAR was only used on the TTA. The knock module is turbo SFI Buick only. The 87 is different than the 84-86. I cant remember the difference but there have been a couple of post about it so you might try do do a search unless they got deleted during the last couple of months.

I knew that '86 was different than '87. I swapped them between my 2 cars (see sig) for diagnostic reasons. Different #s, but they seemed to perform the same......That reminds me, I need to change them back
