Something Strange on E-Bay

I have been surfing E-Bay lately and looking at a lot of different cars. Anything from Turbo Regals, Camaros, Mustangs, Hurst/Olds and the like. Probably looked at 50-60 in the last couple of weeks. The strange things is that while the actions are active, the high bidders in probably 95%+ of the time has a E-Bay ID consisting of a letter then *** then another letter. Never the same id but always in that sequence. Really strange. Has anyone else noticed this?

Example:

eBay Motors: Buick : Grand National (item 120160585002 end time Sep-17-07 12:23:29 PDT)

eBay Motors: Oldsmobile : Cutlass (item 330162926339 end time Sep-15-07 12:47:47 PDT)

eBay Motors: Chevrolet : Camaro (item 270163684239 end time Sep-17-07 19:09:25 PDT)

Could it be the new way Ebay protects the bidder ID's?

I think you are right. Wasn't thinking to try other items besides cars. But it only seems to be on cars and not other items?

Supposed to be on any high $ item. It was on a piece of pottery that sold for $550 this week.
