Frame swap Hybrid

All,

While thinking about how to best go about a 231 swap into my 1980 MC. I came across a guy wanting to sell a complete driveline and frame with everything still intact. I was wondering if dropping the frame off my MC and mounting it to the T-type frame would be possible. In theory it gives me the ability to restore the frame, which were known for rusting and then dropping my MC body on a "frame off restoration" What are your thoughts?

i would check into the legality of swapping frames due to the stamping of vin numbers.

p.s. Does your name mean what i think it does?

While I haven't checked the legality of it, I know guys that have swaped frames with race frames with no problems from the DMV. As long as your dash VIN matches your title they don't check any further (at least in TN).

Yep. It is a college nickname that I still use as a screen name often.
