Ubly closing

Ubly is closing at the end of this year. I'm not shocked, the writings been on the wall for the past 3-4 years. They have been spending more time, energy and money at the Northern Michigan track. So this means we will have either Lapeer or Milan as our local tracks Sad sad day. Here is the final word.


Brian Ledford - 7/19/2007 Well.. the time has come. It''s been a great 24 years at Ubly Dragway, but as in many other good things, it''s time to wrap up the memories for the archives.

Happy 67th Birthday Tom Ledford. Time to settle down a bit and put a halt to the dozens of 4 hour drives to Ubly each summer from the home in Kaleva in Manistee County.

Tom and Sharon Ledford have announced the conclusion of their successful 24 years of lease at Ubly Dragway at the end of the 2007 race season. They would like to thank everyone for all of the relationships formed over the last quarter century.

Special thanks to the Ubly Track Crew, many of whom worked at the track for over 20 years. Also, special thanks to the Janowiak family for use of their wonderful facility.

The second half of the 2007 race season schedule will remain the same as posted. A reunion celebration party is in the works for Saturday night of Labor Day weekend at the Janowiak Memorial Event.

Future plans for the dragway are unknown.
