Fender vent removal

Hello all,

I need to remove my fender vents to paint them. I was wondering if anyone knows a trick to getting the allen head screws out without damaging the vents? Will a ball head allen wrench work? Also, how would you hold the inside wing nut fastener without dropping them into the fenders?

Any help would be appreciated,
