GN wheel caps

Lost another cap while driving on the highway . Gonna order another one this week. Can you put the wheel and tighten all the bolts then just push the cap in? Or better to put the wheel first then put the cap and hold it there while hand tightening the bolts? Thats the way I used to do it but after examining the back of the cap it looks like you can just push it in after all 5 bolts are tightened

Was the backing still on the car? I used to always loose the cap but the holder would still be on the wheel.

are you talking about the silver ring that goes behind the cap? IF you are then its not there.

yeah, that's it. I've never had a problem with those coming off, just the cap itself. I found if you would take a torch and heat a flat head screwdriver up and mash the plastic tabs that stick through the silver retainer ring flat, that it wouldn't pop off of it anymore........

Back to your problem, are you using the correct lug nuts? Just a thought....

when i was driving with my stock rims i lost a couple center caps and it really pissed me off...you just gotta push the cap and metal retainer all the way in while you tighten the lugnuts and dont let go until the lugnuts are totally tight...the center caps should not budge after that...if they do you need new retainer rings or they need to be bent back into shape

Now running a 44k original mile stock longblock, stock turbo (for now), PTE FMIC, 60 lb inj, TT chip, TA Perf 3" DP, GNX style VDO dash, Vince Janis built 200-4R w/ 10" 3400 n-l stall (can you say NO turbo lag? LOL)

Words of experience: Going fast was nice, but when your car is down every single year because you broke something, it isn't fun anymore and unless money grows on trees at your house, you don't regret going back to stock, and being able to drive and enjoy your car again
