Well I have talked to the guys at Reed Cams recently about that very subject and they told me the same thing. The Synthetic is too slick and it causes the lifter to not spin correctly causing premature wear. So I now use only Dino oil with Lucas oil stabilizer. He said if you do go to synthetic make sure you have at least 5000 miles if not more on the cam.
