Who Makes the Highest Flow High Flow Cat?

ATR? Or if the HF cat's are all comparable, who's got the best price?

Thanks,
Terry

I have one from Quad Air. It fits the THDP and cost $100 or $120.
I only use it one day a year (emissions) , but it seems like a high flowing cat.

I bought the expensive Random Technology one and was gonna leave it on salvageV6.

They did away with emissions and it wouldn't fit easily with the THDP so left it off.

Didn't get to test it out yet. Supposed to be a real race cat.

the random bullet SS cat I believe flows over 500 cfm which is pretty good. since we run single cats we need all the help we can get. I think some of the chevy truck cats flow pretty well too. not sure of the cfm rating, but they are pricey. need to get them from a junk yard.

careful if you live in an emissions state and get caught without your cat. fines are steep!!

I worked at EPA for a bit, and they are nasty if they bust you for emissions tampering!!

I left the cats. on the cars for the stunning visual effect.

Just doesn't seem to be much in the way of innards left in them anymore.

If I were you I would buy the cheapest 3in universal i could find, Take a very long screwdriver and a hammer and go to town on it! Then you'll have the highest flowing cat around! Emissions is a whole other story. The converters we sell at our shop are from a company called Carsound. As far as I know they are some of the highest flowing cats around. Installed they run $150 for a low capacity and $250 for a high capacity. I'm sure you could find a muffler shop that sell them in your neck of the woods.

I know. I've thought of that - gutting a cat. Someone told me last week that a no-CAT violation is now a felony? Sounds a bit steep to me. My concern would be releaved with a gutted cat. But honestly, I'm also getting a bit of conscience about polluting. I love clean air, I mountain bike all the time. And when I see all the smog...it bums me out. I'll sacrifice 5 hp for that. Now, if it were 30, forget it. Everyone can slowly die of CO poisoning...I need that extra power...J/K.

At least 30.

Gained 4 psi. without that restrictive thingy.

Some cars pass emissions without them.

ok heres a plan....

instead of bending over and getting SCREWED by paying $250 for one of those super cats..

get a 3" catco one.. and an electric cutout.

bam, lose your restriction in 3 seconds, that would be about $200, 50 cheaper than the super cat!

Very cool...electronic cutout. But I'm having a hard time believing that a "high flow" cat = 30 hp loss. Geese, what's a low flow, 50? I'd hate to have a car with only 100 hp. But seriously, if it were responsible for 30 hp, that'd be the first (being that's the easist) way to gain 30 hp!...remove/gut the cat.

Dyno run data will work well here.

Get a cat and you will see.

A cutout is not legal and you will get nailed if someone looks at it

This thread is going south fast.

Glad to be a part of it.

Read the cool stuff on Random Tech.s. website.

I would say the increased boost without it would net the 30hp. not necessarily at the same readjusted boost level.

In with the good air and out with the bad air. Uncork that exhaust.

Maybe in TX, but not the whole country. It is not legal in most states to have a way to bypass the catalytic converter
