Crap. I finally get my car running, and guess what. Tick tick knock knock knock.

Argh. So after repairing my rusty t-tops and spending too much money on that, and after getting a new turbo, and fixing my really shoddy vacuum brake conversion brakes, vacuum leaks, doing "spring cleaning", I finally take my car for a ride.

Hmm.. brakes work. Car shifts into 2nd gear ok at part throttle, ok.. Tick tick tick. what the hell is that?!?! tick tick ticknock knock knock. knock knock. knock. F*&k.

Silly me thought I could buy this car cheaply and get it running for not too much cash. I'm an idiot.

Well I'm not one to give up. So I'm obviously going to yoink the motor and rebuild it. I want to not spend too much money, yet I want to do it right. What machine work do you guys recommend having done? Is there any cheaper porting that's worth it on the heads? Get a non-stock cam obviously, why not right. 206/206 for a bolt-on car?

I need to go break something I'm so pissed off.. argh............sdfjlkasfdjlweij

Cool

I would highly recommend getting your heads and intake ported while the motor is apart. It may be expensive but it is a great power investment for the street and the track. I just did this on my new motor and my car went from running in the 11.70's to the 11.30's and there's at least a couple more tenths in it once I sort out the tuning. The only other changes I made was stepping up to 009's from the blue tops to handle the extra air flow and installing a 212/212 cam. You don't need a cam this big tho, a 206/206 is a great choice and should get you the same gains. The beauty of a nice flowing motor is you don't have to try to stuff more boost and timing into it to run faster so it'll be easier on your motor too. Make sure you put billet caps on the 2&3 mains while your at it.
