I have the GN1 3" exhaust with the mufflers that come with it. I no longer mind driving my GN the way it sounds now. This is the best exhaust sound I've ever heard from a GN. No drone and it's a deep musclecar sound. FYI - This system is a Chinese knockoff of some other exhaust system no longer available.

There is only one muffler that IS the GN sound: Pitbulls from the old ATR.

Anyone who has them will testify to this fact.

They are out there. I bought some Pitbulls from a member a while back. He still had them in the box brand new from ATR. Never used. I had them on my 2 TR's in the early-mid 90's. I went thru Dynomax, Magnaflow, etc...since I bought my current GN. It just wasnt right. Once your car has Pitbulls you just cant accept anything else.

When someone hears your car on the street they know for sure that there is something nasty under the hood.

Well, given used ATR exhausts are rather hard to find, I would say go for the Ultraflo's. They are close to the ATR pitbull, with their straight through design, but the pitbulls are shorter, and they have a different internal design on the straight through. Aside from that, I believe the Ultraflo's sound very nice, and no crazy droning, and achieve the same nastiness factor.

I have to agree about the ATR Pitbull mufflers sounding great on a GN. They give the car a unique sound that is all it's own. However if you don't want to be noticed while driving down the street you had better forget about the ATR Pitbull mufflers.

I love the Pypes RacePros on my car. They sound great and have no drone. I used to have an SLP muffler, side outlet exhaust on my car, and it was the best sound from any gn I have ever heard, but it was the worst drone, and muffler was smashed from previous owner so it had to go.

Had Hooker and hated them.....

My TTA loved the Pitbulls and I did too.

The GN1 mufflers are copies of the old ATR mufflers. I have them on my car and like I said above my only complaint about a GN was the sound, until I put these mufflers on. It's the best sounding muffler I've ever heard on a GN hands down! You're welcome to come by and hear them. I'm in the West Suburbs, or come to Great Lakes Dragaway this Saturday for the Chicagoland Buick Club race.....

I doubt ATR actually made the Pitbull mufflers. Some muffler company had to me making them for ATR.

Here's my car when it had the old Flowmasters on it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKwDLRJXkuo

Here it is with a straight shot 3 inch single pipe and Ultraflow muffler:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5_a5Bs4fXc

You be the judge....

I can say it definitely has more top end power with the 3 inch set up....

I like no mufflers, sounds and performs great.

There isn't a muffler that flows better than a Hooker Max Flow, it literally flows like a straight pipe which is great for any FI car.

Sounds like most people like what they have.

I use a 3in $25 summit muffler off of a straight pipe and with a turndown, its quiet to me!

Recently put on some 3in hooker max flow to replace a set of flowmasters. I wanted to try them and see if the car made more power like everyone claims.
First thing I noticed was the sound. They sound like crap. Specially WOT. According to the seat dyno, the car did not run any different just sounded worse. I was soon back at the speed shop picking up some more flowmasters. They sound the best hands down. The car runs just as strong if not stronger with the flowmasters.
Be glad to take anyone for a ride. You too can become a believer.
Right John? LOL!

Yes they made the mufflers. I went down and pick up my system when they were still open, and they took me on a tour and I saw them making them there.

Here it is with a straight shot 3 inch single pipe and Ultraflow muffler:

You be the judge....

I can say it definitely has more top end power with the 3 inch set up....
tried watching, said "This video is private." @ the top

Cool

My 2 1/2" Pit Bulls droned, but sounded great. I have added the Ultraflow crossflow & got rid of the drone & it is quieter. Pit Bulls & Ultraflow are straight through & almost no performance difference compared to open dump.
