Front Sway Bar Question

What are most of you guys doing when it comes to the front sway bar? I took it off my previous GN to help transfer more weight to the back but the car had way too much roll on the street for my liking. I need advice on what to replace it with and where to get it.

I got mine off evilbay and it wasn't bad. He even threw in the rear for another $10 so when I get around to it I'll see if I can replace the rear with something better. If it doesn't work I'll check out the S10 blazer rear. It will be more like a pro touring rear and better handling as well.

I got mine from the thirdgen.org web site. I think it was only like $25 or something.

Thanks for the input guys, i understand that the hollow will be lighter but will it allow the car to transfer the weight better than the stock one? I know with it off the car, the front end comes up higher than with it, if i put a hollow one on then it looks like it would still hold the front suspension down not allowing it to raise up as high?

I still got a 1.73 60' with the hollow 36mm attached (On DRs), next time to the track I'm going to remove it to see if it makes any difference at all, but it won't be a direct comparsion as I also put on drag shocks since last time.

I never liked the street manners without the front bar...
Yes, it will help at the dragstrip if it's removed... but since my car spends 99.9% of it's time cruising around on the street, I'll leave the front bar on.

my buddy just went 1.57 footbraking with stock turbo , stock swaybars stock suspension and mickey 255/60 DRs
i run the hrparts rear and no front bar, handles just fine
i dont run the front but not because it would hurt transfer being there but the loss of 30lbs off the front end doesnt hurt
the hollow will still drop some weight up front compared to stock , as long as the frame mount bushings for the bar arent bound the car will still rise as if it wasnt there but your not going to get the one wheel lift that many lesser rear bars only will do

like posted check out nick mccales launch picture on the home page to this site, its not pretty

Other than less weight with hollow bar up front, it's not going to really help launch vs. stock bar. For launch--still with some road manners--you need to remove front & go stiffer HR Parts or ATR bar in rear...

I went hollow up-front for increased body-roll resistance & lighter weight (10-12# less?) at same time. Perhaps this helps counter-balance the extra wt I added up-front several years ago via "Kirban's front frame braces"...

I removed the front sway bar on my car and it's only an occasional weekend warrior. It definately leans alot more in corners, however I already had bias ply skinnies up front which made more of a difference in how the car handled than taking the sway bar off. I didn't weigh the bar and brackets but it feels like it's somewhere around 30lbs off the front end of the car. The car also hooks well on the street and the front end rises and rolls on the passenger tire like crazzzzy on the footbrake. It looks like the car is trying to flip itself over until you left the brake go
