went to the track last night and WTF

i went to the track last night and i cant make boost on the line to save my life. No burnout (since i dont have line lock), aluminum drums, s-10 brakes, i even tightened them up a little bit before i went. i have tried holding the brake and just stomping the gas, rolling into the gas, half throttle.... thats only the beginning. i was also having a horrible stumble coming into boost in first gear. i have a dual nozzle alky kit so i pulled the alcohol back a little bit and that didnt help. when i rolled into in on the way home it was fine, could it be loading up with fuel from being held WOT for 5 seconds before slowly rolling off the line with 0 psi?

its a twisted6 (dusty) PTC 9" NL (2004r) spec'd for similar combo to his (gn1s and 70CPT ,3600lb car only that car had a bigger 224/224 cam ). it was sent back to Dusty to correct (was a little loose) before it ever saw the track . if i had to guess its what he calls a 3000 which doesn't relate to any other converter as his typically spool well and couple even better at the big end
.. that converter went 1.41 on a 5lb footbrake launch (manual brakes , turbonetics external racegate with MSBC-1 controller) running only 20psi on a TT alky chip and then before it was run again was installed into his car ....
only has maybe 8 passes on it and went 10.18 129 at that boost in the other car

Kind of sounds like a wastegate sealing issue... Wish I could have made it to the track, will plan on meeting you on monday at the dyno.

update on the stumbling issue: ok, so when i punched it off the line it would cut out, and not come back to life till i let off the gas. but it also does it free-revving too im thinking bad MAF? if i roll into boost its fine afr's dont get above 10.7

good call its a possible reason but doesnt explain the free reving issue sinc eno boost should be present

he added dual nozzles since he got it , lot more fuel being dumped in
when i went duals on my 86 with a std tt chip it would bog an die coming out of the hole ,little embarassing having to back up and try again . i had move the alky turnon to above my launch boost knowing i didnt want it hitting that hard while i was spooling , but it still knocked the car right down... ended up hooking the alky reduction wire on the pac while i was on the brake .

when i went wideband correcting the chip would correct

i also only run my alky gain knob at mid point or little less and thats been good enough for running 27psi no kr on iron heads but wasnt comfortable at that level for the full 1/4 on stock bottom end

, does it build boost .....are the ic hoses still connected ??

oh one other thought comes to mind , not knowing when the alky kit was built and i know the t+ isnt the latest version chip. contact razor about hotwiring the translator as there were issues with it being used with alky causing maf dropouts because the translator and the alky pull from the same fuse and the older alky kits were noisy

check your air/fuel ratio..If car is running rich(too much fuel) it will bog down and fall on it's face..As far as torque converter,I would match stall to turbo recommendations..(3200-3600 stall)..whatever the rating is for that turbo,I'm not sure, but 3000 sounds too tight to me...I have a 72 turbo and it's rating is a 3800 stall...

hot wiring the translator may be the way to go, the scanmaster is picking up and reading the maf, but do you think the razor kit would still interfere even when the pump isnt running?
