engine harness clips
I want to replace those oval engine management harness clips when I install the harness in my hybrid. I'm aware they are available aftermarket, but I don't know where they install. It's been a year or more since I got it out of the donor car and I don't remember. I know they attatch around the AC?heater box but I'm guessing after that. It's a G body, so if anyone can post up a pic I'd appreciate it.

The aftermarket steel clips are also discontinued.
Caspers will be supplying these clips soon: http://www.installationinstructions....uitclipkit.pdf They will be OEM clips and OEM conduit. Actually there was three different material changes when GM made the clips. Must have been a problem where the heat from the engine would warp and distort the part, eventually falling off the metal shield, causing the oval conduit to drop down and hit the downpipe. I believe the last run of 87 production year, and also the 1989 TTA used the best material. 86's had the biggest failure problem with the part. These clips are critical parts for securing the engine harness.

Some of the 1989-1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera's used the same oval harness plastic cover and used metal clips that look just like the plastic ones used on the GN's. I think these are the ones that Kirban used to buy and modify to fit the turbo buicks. Each Ciera had about two of these each, at the back of the engine compartment under the windsheild wipers.
I picked up about six of these at the local pick-n-pull for 25cents each. Way better than the plastic can ever be......but needs a little modification...once done no one can spot them unless pointed out ahead of time. |
