AN hose fitting help
I want to use braided hose for a new fuel line and was wondering if anyone out there knows what size the fittings are where the rubber flex hose hanging just below the front cover are. The pressure side looks to be a 3/8 that supplies the fuel rail, and the on from the regulator is smaller. Are these metric? Anyone out there already done this? This is my first attempt to do this, any opinion welcomed.

AN lines and fittings are not cheap, but its alot easier than spending $100x2 for oem fuel lines, and they look alot better

I just made up AN hoses for a TTA. Be SURE you blow a string through the hose after you install the ends, and tie a gun cleaning patch to the end of the string and dip it into laquer thinner and pull it through the hose. Repeat this untill the patch comes through clean. Then repeat a few more times. Aftermarket braided hose is VERY dirty inside. After you install the fittings, use a bright flashlight and look inside for flappers. I prefere Russel fittings over the cutter type Earls fittings. (incidentally Earls is a division of Parkers, so most hydraulic shops can get Earls at a decent price) Personal preference. If anyone needs help with any special type of fuel fitting drop me a PM. The fitting on the fuel pump hangar is not factory.
The hoses in the bottom pic that the same fittings as the one pictured on the hangar. Both fittings are know as Saginaw/Power Steering fittings. Billy T. gnxtc2@aol.com |

I just cut the fittings off of a fuel filter and silicon bronzed (TIG) a -8AN(JIC) fitting to them. If anyone needs a -6 or -8AN fitting for the stock feed line on the frame, PM me. If you are converting to AN hose/tubing, then use the stock feed line as the return, and use either a -6AN or -8AN new feed. The stock feed line necks down to .257" at each Saginaw fitting. The stock feed line will only flow as much as a 1/4" tube (600+HP). A -6AN is 11/32" ID, which is big enough to feed over 750hp at 65psi. A stock fuel system will feed enough fuel for a 9.90 run. (it HAS been done)
If you use Push-lock hose, be sure it is rated for gasoline. Parker Push-lock hose is NOT rated for gasoline. It will work, but must be periodically inspected. Some folks are complaining about fuel vapor in thier garages when using braided steel AN hose, too. The only way to completely eliminate fuel vapors from escaping AN hose it to use TFE (teflon) external braid hose.

The hanger in the pic is a factory AC/Delco part and the fitting is stock. It is NOT a buick hanger, but rather one from an 85-87 throttle body injectef El Camino. The hanger is now discontinued (an independant vendor had this one, his last in stock) and while I will cut it if there's no other way, I'd rather not. I've had very little time to address this lately, I hope to post pics of my progress soon. On the up side, I did just aquire a G80 rear and a set of aluminum drums. Thanks, Scott!
