Who wants Stainless Headers?

Testing the waters.....
If I were able to bring some of these headers in, how many would be interested? It may take some time to coordinate this but, want to make sure its worth the effort. I would have to test fit them first of course and they shouldn't be very expensive either (probably less than $400/set). LMK.
Thanks,
Derek

Wondered who would be the first to copy our headers with a cheap off-shore attempt?

We cannot even buy the good stainless material for your proposed price.

Do you remember what the ebay headers looked like?? Hint, the above aren't the same. Try looking for ebay headers now, you wont find them. Did you not read that they would also be "Test Fitted" first. I AM a turbobuick.com member and have been for quite some time. Im not out to make a quick buck but, instead would make sure that fellow board members don't get ripped off at my own expense first.

Sorry, didn't even realize they were a copy. The stainless material of those headers are 304. Will let you know more on them once I hear back from the manufacturer. I don't want to screw anyone over. In fact, when I get an actual price Ill let you know.

Nick,

Do your headers have stainless flanges?

no, they are mild steel, which they should be since stainless flanges tend to warp

well choices at this point for decent headers you have to spend 900 plus...anything less suffers severly in quality...so its either cheap and crappy or expensive and nice...doesnt seem to be any middle of the road headers yet...i would think if there was people would buy them.

There's a reason for that. The expensive stuff is high quality materials, built to tight tolerances here in country, and fit tested thoroughly (in car) (not on an engine stand).
The cheap stuff is inferiour (although stainless), no quality control, and as everybody had found, they will not fit on the motor in the car without some huge problems that can only be overcome by fabricators (most of us are not).

Well, good! Competition brings prices down. Nice that people can have a CHOICE on what to buy without being jabbed up the rear. And before anyone says "you get what you pay for"....well, NO.... you don't always get what you pay for. I know!

Thoes look like an EXACT replica of the headers i bought off of ebay. They have the two spacers on the passenger side top front two bolt holes but not the third, welds look identical, flanges and clamps are identical, and the flange to head is the same mild steel. Even the same gaskets.

If you want to truely do something for the buick community, get a few sets from the manufacturer, test fit them, either make sure the v-band flanges line up or cut them off and use a different design flange such as stock setup, if you keep the v-band style, ditch the cheesy clamps and un hardened bolts and nuts that you WILL strip after tightening them up the first time they start to leak if you dont at the initial installation and sell them with t-bolt style v-band clamps. Get the flange that bolts to the head ceramic coated or something of the like so that the nice shiney headers you just put on dont look like they are wearing a rusty hat after the first humid day. Thats all i can think of for now. By the time your done with all that, price of labor and parts will be most likely an unprofitable outcome if not a loss of money.

I would rather pay 400$ for headers that crack and don't fit worth a damn, than the 900 i paid for my ATRs that did the same. Mine weren't the only ones either (in fact im in the process of removing some ATRs as we speak from a friends car.) I understand that the TAs are nice....I would be willing to try these 400$ ones if i hadn't found a decent welder who finally made my ATRs last for more than a year.

what about Poston's headers? That's what I'm running and they work great. They weren't 900 bucks either. I believe I paid about $650 - granted they are mild steel, but they are coated (I believe it's a ceramic coating).
