Rarest TR Option??!!

Ok, my 87 Turbo T has the manual outside chrome mirrors (RPO code DR3). I was told by Kirban himself that only a handful of turbo regals had this option. By the way, I have the wo2 blackout package, which makes this chrome mirror option so weird Could this possibly be the rarest option for the tr??

Heavy padded landau top treatment with T-Top application on an '87 is said to be extremely rare. In Kirban's book, he mentioned he'd only seen one which was a white exterior/ top car. I can say there are at least two as my car has this. Those chrome mirrors are rare too!

On a little different note I had a 86 GN a few years back that was completely loaded and had one option that I think is pretty rare--engine block heater. The cord was coiled up near the battery and was made to plug into a 110v socket to preheat the engine.

Nice car.

WO2 would be an option on a Regal, the turbo package too, however no power windows and a standard column shift would be standard equipment or lack of an option.

No reason to mix options with standard equipment.

The standard mirrors were chrome manual as well on a Regal from the sales literature, therefore it wasn't really an option either.

The reason they aren't seen much, is more GN's, WE4's, Limiteds etc., were made than standard Regals with turbos. And many base Regals had the body colored mirrors with at least the drivers side adjustable one option level, with the passenger side adjustable another option.

Just my .02.

Rare options to me would be the padded vinyl roof treatments, cornering lamps, body side stripes, white lettered tires, carpet savers with the inserts, and twilight sentinel.

Probably others as well like the block heater and California emissions equipment.

My base '87 Regal with Turbo and chrome package has all that you described in your first sentence salvage with exception to twilight sentinel. Not a limited but almost identical to one from the exterior view.

Astroroof has to be a farely rare option.

I've never actually seen one other than mine. Of course, I don't see many Regals period living in Southern Oregon. Most people drive trucks and SUV's around here.

Compared to the tons of GN's and then the blacked out WE4's with their specific trim additions, the limited production Regals and Limited Regal options would be more rare since they didn't make as many cars that could pick from those options.

And once you blacked out with the WO2 package any of those cars the choices were more limited I believe such as no cornering lamps.

Leather seating would have to be rare as well.

I have a 1986 Wh-1 1 of 463 which is the rarest turbo regal next to the 1982 Grand National. Also my car is an astroroof.

I agree as the chrome manuals were the standard Regal mirrors than that should not be called an option as such. And when the W02 was ordered on the W05 Limited than the Limited was more or less an interior option as you could not order any of the exterior Limited options like vinly roof, opera and cornering lamps along with the lower wide body moldings.

In my vast collection of SPID labels the very rarest of options has to be the A02 tinted windshield. Most if not all Regals have the A01 Tinted glass option which is for all of the glass on the car. The A02 was just the windshield. I have a label from one car. It is a 87 GN of all things. If I had to guess I would say the padded vinyl roof, not the standard vinyl roof is one of the rarest.

I test drove an 86 Regal Turbo limited WH1 with leather interior and column shift.
Real nice car, was in central Jersey back in 1991-92, I couldnt get a used car loan because back then a 5 yrs or more car was "too old"
I wonder if that car is still alive?

No power locks, no power windows, no power seats, no tilt, no defogger, no intermittent wiper, no cruise...
Only options I chose were Turbo pkg, T pkg, Concert Sound, Posi, black out trim, even tried to order it with out A/C, the sale manager laughed

I heard the tan leather bucket seats in 1986 with mini console was rare. In fact I've only ever heard of one.

86 T Type,
45/45 Leather Buckets, Astroroof, Electronic Touch Climate, Twilight Sentinal, remote trunk, posi, and tons more. White with Blackout and Grey Leather. I was told only 20 turbo cars had 45/45 leather buckets in 86. Don't know for sure. I do know I have never seen another like this one and I had seen a bunch

Someone should start documenting the production numbers, or what's still around.
How many Silver? How many Dark grey? etc.
How many T top?

Database for option codes.

I don't think Buick had anything like that.

I have been thinking about a database of cars/options....it would be quite an undertaking. It would require a safe method of verifying and recording individual cars and option codes. Privacy and security would need to be foremost.

Anyway .....rare stuff. Yea I think the chrome mirrors are very rare and in combo with other rare options would make any individual car very rare. In the same way as the padded vinyl/astro roof combo hits a solitary note.

My two tone T is fairly rare w/chrome pkg., astroroof, power antenna (working), factory two tone paint, manual windows /locks and factory trunk kit. Probably the thing that makes this rarer that anything is the fact that the PW antenna works. LOL On the way to check it out, I was hoping it had the chrome mirrors.....but alas NO. There seem to be as many T's as tastes allowed. I love it!

Hey Rudy nice car/nice pic......I like white

Turbo Buicks what else?
A lightweight 86 - K&N - RJC spacer - 32LB injectors - TT chip - Hooker (no) cat back w/Test pipe - Street tires - Bilsteins - Vacuum brakes - Bracing all around - CK Performance shift kit - Billet AFPR - Walbro fuel pump w/hotwire
87 GN - Coming back! REBUILT Air pump soon.
87 White T carcass - GONE organ donor - rear frame horns to an 86 - front horns/control arms to a roundy round racer!

A big baby beast 94 hauler, a leaky 97 and a red wagon. Gone & not forgotten - years of wierd wheels - one sold to skinny people on the French Riviera.

I think those 86 T-Type with the leather 45/45 and shorty console are really rare. I've seen 2 and both were tan interiors. I dont think you could get the gray leather in 86. And the 87 Limiteds with the tan 45/45 combo too. I've only seen 1 with that interior. I'm not 100% for sure but I think you could get a red interior in a WH1. Another rare oddball.

I dont know where you guys are getting your numbers from as there aren't any posted figures on that type of information. Pure speculation. I've tried to get Buick and GM to kick that information out. Somewhere there are tapes or discs stashed that have every stink'n SPID label recorded. It wouldn't take long to itemize those figures. I bet there would be some surprises there.
