Fire Extinguisher

Hey guys;

Where do you have your fire extinguisher mounted inside the car? Is there any NHRA rules concerning where they have to be mounted?

Where's a good place to get one? I was looking at Jeg's and trying to figure out why the Sliver with flames extinguisher was $16 less than a black one? Yeah whatever.... Anyone else have a better source? Should I get more than one?

Thanks!

I bought a twin pack of them at Sam's wholesale club for maybe $20. They are dry chemical. I would have rather had a CO2 since there is no mess to clean up but those are really expensive. I keep one on the garage and one in the car.

I have a 3lb. Kidde dry chem that I keep under the drivers seat. It's bigger than most of the ones you see in the auto parts stores, but there's no such thing as too much extinguisher when you need it. I also keep a pair of leather firefighting gloves rubberbanded to it to keep from roasting my hands if I have to open the hood or pull out a burning piece of whatever.

The gloves sound like a good idea.

Where did you get them at? Like a home depot or something?

Welding gloves would work great. That's a good idea.

I'm a volunteer firefighter, so we always have a pair or two hanging around that have been pulled from service due to wear and tear. Just check the yellow pages in your area for a firefighter/public saftey supply type place, or try online.

I got mine from Wal-Mart. It's more so a compact extinguisher, but its class A-B-C. Was only like $10 bucks.
