Maybe an injector or two is leaking down?

Maybe just cold engine - remember what it was like to start a 1970's car in the winter time?

New combo is roller & 6776 Turbo. Track times coming!
Got in 1 pass at 11.30 & then blew up the tranny. It will do much better than that! High 10's here I come!

Check your coolant. It also sounds like a leaking HG into the combustion camber.

Yeah but that was on a carbureted engine. Unless if the engine were extremely cold, wouldn't fuel injection for the most part fire up and run well on 1st try?

Of course trying to run a number is fine if that is what you want to do but beware if you walk on the edge sometimes you fall off.

it should.
Does the problem show after the engine is warmed up, then restarted, or at any start up?

Get a Turbo tweak chip & I'll bet it goes away. That chip you have is old correct?
