In 86'-87' the blocks and the heads are the same. The difference is in the rotating assembly. The cranks and the pistons are different. The cranks in the turbo motors have rolled fillets on both the mains and rods the N/A has rolled fillets only on the mains. Some factory replacement N/A motors came with turbo cranks.

The crank, pistons, and some of the rings are different. Im pretty sure the compression ring is a different alloy. The block is the same. The heads are the same. The pistons are the most critical difference.

They had the rolled radius but still have the weak lighter NA pistons.

Yep, I took apart an NA engine that had a turbo crank....the pistons were still NA.
