Race gas?
What is the optimal octane rating for race gas before a 1/4 mile run? Im going to be running a race chip soon, I was looking at Sunoco GTPlus Unleaded 104 Octane. Or should I use something like the 100 octane race gas? How many gallons of race gas do you usually need for a day at the track?

You need how ever much octane you need to have no knock. If you get a 110 octane chip run 110. If you get a 100 octane chip run 100 or 104. You can always up the boost if you have no knock. There is no set octane for these cars. How much you need all depends on how many passes you are going to make ect. I figure one gallon for every pass. Make sure you dont have 93 mixed with 110 because the rating will be less. Also, make sure you arent low on gas or else all the gas will rush to the back and you pump wont have any gas to suck.

Drive or drainout as much 93 as possible as stated above helps higher oct
level. Chip detemines oct level needed. I try to keep at least 1/4-1/2 gas level at track. Last edited by turbofrank : September 3rd, 2006 at 09:51 AM. |
