gained 5mph in 1/8th

well i gained 5mph in the 1/8th mile but attained the same 1/4 mph.
what would cause this?

last time i was at the track my car was stock except for a test pipe. best was a 14.1 @ 99mph, 75mph in the 1/8. this was at 15-16 psi.
went to the track again with a crap wastegate actuator and got a 14.1 @ 99mph, 80mph in the 1/8. only change from previous time was a TE-44 turbo which was only at 9psi. yes im slow, but im working with 9psi and an open diff.

You might have a slipping trans.

that would really suck since the car has about 800 miles on a brand new tranny.

9 psi with a TE44.

More than likely, your boost was higher in 1st and 2nd (most street chips do this), but when you go to third, the 9 psi is what kept your mph so low.

At 9 psi, a TE44 isn't making more than a maybe 1 or 2 HP more than the stock turbo at 9 psi.

boost was not higher in 1st and 2nd. i was watching the gauge. it peaked at 10 as i crossed the line and was at 7 near the 1/8th.

You ran 80 mph in the 1/8th mile with a stock longblock and 7 psi of Boost?

OK...

Since the 2-3 shift is usually around 65-70 mph, you are in 3rd gear BEFORE the 1/8th.

How many runs did you make? If it was only one, get back to us when you've run 5 and the same thing happen's 5 times.

if you run ~100mph in the 1/4 your 1/8 SHOULD be around 80mph.

I think the 75 mph was wrong..... not the 80.

with that slow of a car you should only pick up around 20 mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4.

the faster you go the more you pick up on the last half of the track.

a car that is a 10 sec car will pick up around 25 mph.

(for example, with a 101.5mph 1/8th my quarter was 126.58mph for an increase of about 25 mph)

Fast cars (low 9 to high 8s ) will pick up about 30 mph +/-2 mph.

so for you to go from 75 to 99 that would be a 24 mph increase which seems unlikely with a car only in the 14s.

so 80mph to ~100mph seems right on the money IMHO.

Yeah, something sounds off there. My 85 GN with only CAI and exhaust runs 9 flats at 76mph with 1.96 60's. How are you launching?
