Door speakers...

From what ive been reading around here i take it that the door speakers are 5.25, but my question is there a particular depth you have to work with? Im considering these speakers for the door and just wanted to get an idea of how much depth i had to work with in the doors..Also would like to know what speakers some of you guys have installed on the doors and if you needed to do any modification to get them fixed.
