1 of 100 custom made GMP GN?

Anybody ever seen this car before? Looks like its home made (the box at any rate), the license plate looks like it was printed out from an inkjet printer (and not cut out very well either). Wonder what company made it? Seller says they were $300 when they first came out, this is the first time I've ever seen it.

1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL copcrshr CUSTOM EDT GMP 1/18 - eBay (item 250297601058 end time Sep-26-08 21:15:18 PDT)

I would think if it was a legit rare Grand National diecast collectible, someone here will have a knowledge of it's existence.... Anyone?

It says right in the description that they were a series of 100 customs
made using GMP Buick parts....Never seen them before now.
With those Massachusetts plates, hope it's got good undercoating...LOL!!!

Looks like the seller is close by too...........could be one of our car club members. Guess I need to find out.......

Did this car start out as the 1987 GN 1/18 number 8001 car if so it's worth the $99

I saw this car in person today.

I'll try to describe it the best I can.

- Body is a 1987 GN Drag shell
- Full GNX drivetrain.....engine (GNX logo scratched off of shield, trans, rear (w/ GNX logo), suspension, 2 muffler exhaust
- GNX seats (same as GN)
- Tires are 4 "Firestone Wide Ovals" mounted "letters inside".
- The front tires fit funny because it looks like the drag spindles were left intact.
- I don't know where the stock GN rims were sourced from.
- Analog dash with dash-mount tach and pillar gages from GN Drag Car.

Somebody sure went trough a lot of trouble to make this car. I could have bought it for $150 but passed on it.

I happened to buy 1 for $125.00 w/shipping. Know its a custom but nice. Having a very large collection myself I thought it was worth the price. 6Bquick sold custom JL, I bought 1 of them too. There are many nascar Regals that never show up on the collector sites including micro GN's with the turbo hump. Hot wheels crack-ups included the regal in a few cars too (hood basher) and I will have to look at my other one to see the name of it.

I would love to find the purple and white herpas if any one has them? Just name the price!

Collecting is fun and thats why there will always be a market for it.

I know I only collect 87 GN cars with nascar period regals. At over 200 pieces including models, banners, flags, and prints. I might be selling soon but can't stop buying them. Addicting is not even the word. I need to raise $5000 by March for the down payment on a new Night Train. I could never bring myself to sell my car though.

Yep that be it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have an extra would love to have it and a white one. I wish I knew how to post pics. I have several booth machines. I actually found the gentleman that bought the molds and still produces them. The only catch is you have to order 100 at a time. Also have some hard to find Ernhardt wrangler buick pull-backs and a hardees buick pull-back. Greg has been over and seen most of my collection. I still have a few 1/100 Tiger wheel promo GNX's had 10 down to 3 now. I once had a chance at 35 of them for $30.00 a piece. Anyways let me know if you want to sell the purple one. also need the white if anyone out there has one. Thanks. If I sell will post everything here first before evilbay.

Hey stud, the purple car isn't for sale, its the only one I have.

If you're making a list of gn diecasts you got for sale, send it to me too, I've got some gaps I want to fill in.

If you're starting a list totally from scratch, don't waste your time, you can use this list I already made up (its almost a complete regal checklist), then add any that aren't listed:

Buick Grand National Diecast Cars List

(you can download this notepad file... see the white text on the right side of the page)
